The Southern Railway Security Commissioner has sent a letter to the Tamil Nadu government, requesting the removal of 159 government liquor shops located near railway stations.
Chief Minister Joseph Vijay ordered the removal of liquor shops in Tamil Nadu that cause inconvenience to schools, temples, and the public.
In this situation, a letter was sent to the Tamil Nadu government a few months ago on behalf of the Commissioner of the Southern Railway Zone’s Security Division.
The letter stated that liquor shops near railway stations were causing inconvenience to passengers and that accidents were occurring because people consuming alcohol were violating railway regulations. Following this, a survey was conducted on liquor shops near railway stations.
According to the survey, it was found that a total of 159 liquor shops needed to be removed across the 6 railway divisions in the Southern Railway zone.
Based on that, a letter was sent on behalf of the Commissioner of the Southern Railway Security Division to the Managing Director of TASMAC, the Tamil Nadu government, requesting that they be removed.
The letter states that there are 52 liquor shops at 39 railway stations in the Chennai division and requests that they be removed. Railway officials said it was also pointed out that government liquor shops have been set up in the Chennai Railway Division at stations including Vyasarpadi, Ambattur, Chromepet, Guindy, Velachery, Katpadi, Taramani, Chengalpattu, and Avadi, each with one liquor shop, while Perambur has 3, Arakkonam 3, and Korukkupettai 2.

இந்த நிலையில், கடந்த சில மாதங்களுக்கு முன்பு தெற்கு ரயில்வே மண்டலம் பாதுகாப்பு பிரிவின் ஆணையா் சாா்பில் தமிழக அரசுக்கு கடிதம் அனுப்பிவைக்கப்பட்டது.
அந்தக் கடிதத்தில் ரயில் நிலையங்களின் அருகில் உள்ள மதுக்கடைகளால் பயணிகளுக்கு சிரமம் ஏற்படுவதாகவும், மது அருந்துவோா் ரயில்வே விதிமுறைகளை மீறிச் செயல்படுவதால் விபத்துகள் ஏற்படுவதாகவும் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டிருந்தது. அதையடுத்து ரயில் நிலையங்களின் அருகில் உள்ள மதுபானக்கடைகள் குறித்த கணக்கெடுப்பு நடைபெற்றது.
கணக்கெடுப்பின்படி தெற்கு ரயில்வே மண்டலத்திலுள்ள 6 ரயில்வே கோட்டங்களில் மொத்தம் 159 மதுக்கடைகளை அகற்ற வேண்டும் என்பது தெரியவந்தது.
அதனடிப்படையில் அவற்றை அகற்றக் கோரி தமிழக அரசின் டாஸ்மாக் மேலாண்மை இயக்குநருக்கு தெற்கு ரயில்வே பாதுகாப்புப் பிரிவின் ஆணையா் சாா்பில் கடிதம் அனுப்பிவைக்கப்பட்டது.
கடிதத்தில் சென்னை கோட்டத்தில் 39 ரயில் நிலையங்களில் 52 மதுக் கடைகள் இருப்பதாகவும், அவற்றை அகற்றவும் கோரப்பட்டுள்ளது. சென்னை ரயில்வே கோட்டத்தில் வியாசா்பாடி, அம்பத்தூா், குரோம்பேட்டை, கிண்டி, வேளச்சேரி, காட்பாடி, தரமணி, செங்கல்பட்டு, ஆவடி ஆகிய நிலையங்களில் தலா 1 மதுக்கடைகளும், பெரம்பூா் 3, அரக்கோணம் 3, கொருக்குப்பேட்டை 2 என அரசு மதுக்கடைகள் அமைக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதும் சுட்டிக்காட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது என ரயில்வே அதிகாரிகள் தெரிவித்தனா்.
