Chennai: In the Gobichettipalayam constituency, AIADMK candidate Prabhu has filed a case in the Chennai High Court challenging the victory of Tamil Nadu Minister Sengottaiyan.
In the recently concluded Assembly election, Sengottaiyan, who contested from the TVK on behalf of the Gobichettipalayam constituency in Erode district, won by securing 16,620 more votes than DMK candidate Nallasivam, who contested against him. Challenging Sengottaiyan’s victory, Gobichettipalayam AIADMK candidate Prabhu has filed an election petition in the Chennai High Court.
In that petition, it is stated that the license of the notary lawyer who certified and signed the information in the nomination papers and the affidavit disclosing details of assets and criminal cases has expired. Therefore, since accepting that nomination was improper, it has been requested that Sengottaiyan’s victory be declared invalid.
Similarly, in the Lalgudi constituency, lawyer Richardson Wilson has filed an election petition on behalf of Parivallal, the candidate who contested on behalf of the DMK in the constituency, challenging the victory of AIADMK MLA Leema Rose, who won by 2,739 votes more than the TVK candidate.
In that petition, it is alleged that Leema Rose concealed details about her shares in seven companies and that she campaigned in churches while wearing an AIADMK scarf. Similarly, it is noteworthy that TVK candidate Shareef has filed an election petition challenging the victory of DMK MLA Muthuraja, who won in the Pudukkottai constituency by a margin of 1,867 votes.
