Under the TVK government led by Vijay, the women’s rights allowance for the month of June, Rs. 1,000, was credited to the bank accounts of beneficiaries today.

On May 10, TVK leader Joseph Vijay took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. At that time, questions arose as to whether the women’s rights allowance, the Pudhumai Penn and Tamil Pudhalvan schemes brought in by the DMK government would continue, or whether the women’s rights allowance would be increased as per the promise made by TVK as a pleasant surprise to the people.
However, in response to Opposition Leader Udhayanidhi Stalin raising this issue in the Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Vijay said that the welfare schemes brought in by the previous government would continue.
Accordingly, the next day, Rs. 1,000 was credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries of the Pudhumai Penn and Tamil Pudhalvan schemes.
Meanwhile, the expectation arose over whether the TVK’s key election promise of increasing the women’s entitlement amount to Rs. 2,500 would be fulfilled. However, as usual, Rs. 1,000 has been credited in May and June. As a result, people are now wondering when the promised Rs. 2,500 will be received.
Just last month, in a statement issued by Chief Minister Vijay, he had noted that the government needs the necessary time to restructure the women’s rights grant scheme. However, he did not specify how much time would be needed. So far, he has also not said when the procedures for it will begin.
In this situation, today, June 15, the usual date on which the women’s rights grant is credited, the ₹1,000 for June has been deposited. Women receiving the grant are confused: should they be happy that ₹1,000 has been credited as usual, or worried that the ₹2,500 has still not been paid?
