The executive committee meeting of the Tamil Maanila Congress party is being held today in Chennai under the leadership of G.K. Vasan.
The Tamil Maanila Congress has been part of the AIADMK-National Democratic Alliance since 2019. When the AIADMK left the BJP alliance in 2024, the Tamil Maanila Congress remained in the National Democratic Alliance. Even in the legislative assembly election held in 2026, five seats were allotted to the TMC, and the party contested under the BJP’s lotus symbol, but it did not win a single seat.
In this situation, it has been reported that a resolution will be passed at the executive committee meeting being held in Chennai today regarding AIADMK’s exit from the National Democratic Alliance. It is also expected that, in the interest of the party and to decide on the next alliance, a resolution will be passed granting G.K. Vasan the authority to make that decision.
With the principle of a prosperous Tamil Nadu and a strong India, G.K. Vasan rebuilt the Tamil Maanila Congress, which Muppanar had started, in 2014. Although many Congress leaders such as Gnanadesikan and Peter Alphonse went with him then, one by one they left as time passed.
After deciding to contest in the 2026 Assembly election under the lotus symbol, many state and district functionaries opposed the move and left the party. The party’s state general secretary, Yuvaraja, is also set to join TVK soon.
Meanwhile, as GK Vasan is set to exit the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance, he is expected to move toward the current DMK-led alliance without Congress.

கடந்த 2019ம் ஆண்டு முதல் அதிமுக – தேசிய ஜனநாயக கூட்டணியில் தமிழ் மாநில காங்கிரஸ் இடம்பெற்றுள்ளது. 2024ம் ஆண்டு பாஜக கூட்டணியை விட்டு அதிமுக வெளியேறிய போது தமிழ் மாநில காங்கிரஸ் தேசிய ஜனநாயக கூட்டணியிலேயே நீடித்தது. கடந்த 2026ம் ஆண்டு நடைபெற்ற சட்டமன்ற தேர்தலில் கூட 5 இடங்கள் தமாகாவிற்கு ஒதுக்கப்பட்டு பாஜகவின் தாமரை சின்னத்தில் போட்டியிட்டு ஒரு இடத்திலும் அக்கட்சி வெற்றிபெறவில்லை.
இந்நிலையில் இன்று சென்னையில் நடைபெறும் செயற்குழு கூட்டத்தில் அதிமுக – தேசிய ஜனநாயக கூட்டணியில் இருந்து வெளியேறுவது தொடர்பாக தீர்மானம் நிறைவேற்றப்படுவதாக தகவல் வெளியாகியுள்ளது. மேலும் கட்சியின் நலன் கருதியும், அடுத்த கூட்டணி தொடர்பாக முடிவெடுக்கும் அதிகாரத்தை ஜிகே வாசனுக்கு வழங்கி தீர்மானம் நிறைவேற்றப்படும் என எதிர்ப்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.
வளமான தமிழகம் வலிமையான பாரதம் என்ற கோட்பாட்டுடன் மூப்பனார் தொடங்கிய தமிழ் மாநில காங்கிரஸை 2014ம் ஆண்டு மீண்டும் கட்டமைத்தார் ஜிகே வாசன். ஞானதேசிகன், பீட்டர் அல்போன்ஸ் என பல காங்கிரஸ் தலைவர்கள் அவர் பின்னால் அன்று சென்றாலும், நாளாக நாளாக ஒவ்வொருவராக வெளியேறினர்.
2026ம் ஆண்டு சட்டமன்ற தேர்தலில் தாமரை சின்னத்தில் போட்டியிட முடிவெடுத்ததும் பல மாநில மாவட்ட நிர்வாகிகள் அதற்கு எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவித்து கட்சியில் இருந்து வெளியேறினர். கட்சியின் மாநில பொதுசெயலாளர் யுவராஜாவும் விரைவில் தவெகவில் இணைகிறார்.
இந்நிலையில் அதிமுக – தேசிய ஜனநாயக கூட்டணியில் இருந்து ஜிகே வாசன் வெளியேறும் நிலையில், காங்கிரஸ் இல்லாத தற்போதைய திமுக தலைமையிலான கூட்டணியை நோக்கி ஜிகே வாசன் நகர்வார் என எதிர்ப்பார்க்கப்படுகிறது.
