BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said on Thursday (June 18) that plans are being made to hold the IPL matches earlier from next year due to climate changes.
Since the IPL matches begin at the end of March, the weather turns somewhat worse toward the end of the tournament, that is, at the end of May. As a result, some matches are affected by rain.

This year’s IPL matches began on March 29 and concluded by May 31. The problem with that is that after May 15, weather-related issues arise.
On the one hand, there is concern that it may rain in some areas. On the other hand, there is intense heat in some regions. These conditions are not favorable for either the players or the spectators.
Therefore, discussions are underway between the BCCI and the IPL governing bodies about whether the IPL matches can be started before the end of March from next year onward.
Furthermore, Devajit Saikia said that possibilities are being examined to see whether the tournament can be started by March 10 and concluded by May 15, so that there will not be bad weather in the days leading up to the IPL final to be held in 2027.
