Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader Kader Mohideen has announced that the party is withdrawing from the DMK alliance.
Explaining this, he said,
"We had expected that the Dravidian model government would return to Tamil Nadu and that M.K. Stalin would come back again. But God’s will has been different. Thanks to the members of the secular progressive alliance parties who worked for the victory.
We have informed Stalin why we gave our support to the TVK. We traveled with the DMK for 60 years. We decided to extend support to the TVK only after discussing it with him. In fear that Governor’s rule would come in, and that otherwise the BJP-led central government would be imposed on Tamil Nadu, we gave our support to the TVK so that we would not become the reason for that.
Even though we gave unconditional support to the TVK, they gave us something we did not ask for, namely a cabinet post. At present, good decisions are being made and the government is functioning. We will fully cooperate for this government to continue. People are saying that this government is good. Therefore, we are also extending our full cooperation to it.
Since we are part of the TVK government led by Chief Minister Vijay, we cannot continue in the DMK alliance. Therefore, we are withdrawing from the DMK alliance.
The decision on the alliance will be made after the by-election and local body election announcements. Work will be carried out after studying where opportunities exist in the local body elections," he said.
Further responding to a journalist’s question, he said, "I never said that voting for the DMK alliance is the sixth duty of the Muslim community. I only said that voting for democracy is the sixth duty."

திமுக கூட்டணியில் இருந்து இந்திய யூனியன் முஸ்லிம் லீக் (ஐயுஎம்எல்) விலகுவதாக கட்சியின் தலைவர் காதர் மொகிதீன் அறிவித்துள்ளார்.
இதுபற்றி விளக்கமளித்த அவர்,
“தமிழகத்தில் மீண்டும் திராவிட மாடல் ஆட்சி வந்துவிடும், மு.க. ஸ்டாலின் மீண்டும் வந்துவிடுவார் என்று எதிர்பார்த்தோம். ஆனால் கடவுளின் எண்ணம் வேறாக இருந்துள்ளது. வெற்றிக்கு உழைத்த மதச்சார்பற்ற முற்போக்கு கூட்டணிக் கட்சியினருக்கு நன்றி.
தவெகவுக்கு ஏன் ஆதரவு கொடுத்தோம் என்று ஸ்டாலினிடம் தெரிவித்திருக்கிறோம். 60 ஆண்டுகள் திமுகவுடன் பயணித்தோம். அவரிடம் கலந்து பேசிதான் தவெகவுக்கு ஆதரவளிப்பது குறித்து முடிவெடுத்தோம். ஆளுநர் ஆட்சி வந்துவிடும் என்ற அச்சத்தில், அப்படியென்றால் மத்திய பாஜக ஆட்சிதான் தமிழகத்தில் திணிக்கப்படும் நிலைமை வந்துவிடும் என்ற நிலையில், அதற்கு நாங்கள் காரணமாகிவிடக் கூடாது என தவெகவுக்கு ஆதரவு வழங்கினோம்.
தவெகவுக்கு நிபந்தனை இல்லாத ஆதரவு அளித்தும் நாங்கள் கேட்காத ஒன்றை, அதாவது அமைச்சரவை பதவியைக் கொடுத்தார்கள். தற்போது நல்ல முடிவுகள் எடுக்கப்பட்டு ஆட்சி நடைபெற்றுக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. இந்த ஆட்சி தொடர நாங்கள் முழுமையாக ஒத்துழைப்போம். இந்த ஆட்சி நன்றாக இருக்கிறது என மக்கள் கூறுகிறார்கள். எனவே நாங்களும் அதற்கு முழு ஒத்துழைப்பு வழங்குகிறோம்.
முதல்வர் விஜய் தலைமையிலான தவெக அரசில் அங்கம் வகிப்பதால் திமுக கூட்டணியில் பயணிக்க முடியாது. அதனால் திமுக கூட்டணியில் இருந்து விலகுகிறோம்.
இடைத்தேர்தல், உள்ளாட்சித் தேர்தல் அறிவிப்புக்குப் பிறகு கூட்டணி குறித்து முடிவு செய்யப்படும். உள்ளாட்சித் தேர்தலில் எங்கெங்கு வாய்ப்பு உள்ளது என்பது குறித்து ஆய்வு செய்து பணிகள் மேற்கொள்ளப்படும்” என்றார்.
மேலும் பத்திரிகையாளர் கேள்விக்குப் பதிலளித்த அவர், ‘திமுக கூட்டணிக்கு ஓட்டுபோடுவதுதான் இஸ்லாம் சமூகத்தினரின் ஆறாவது கடமை என்று நான் ஒருபோதும் சொல்லவில்லை. ஜனநாயகத்திற்காக வாக்களிப்பது 6-வது கடமை என்றுதான் கூறினேன்’ என்றார்.
