DMK member Austin’s remark that TVK’s victory was made possible by social media caused a stir in the Assembly.
Speaking under the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address, Austin said that TVK had come to power through the media and social media, and that Chief Minister Joseph Vijay should not be compared with figures like Anna and MGR.
He also used a few other words about TVK’s victory.
Ruling party members strongly objected to this and engaged in an argument. Following this, Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar removed the relevant remarks from the official record.
Speaking afterward, the House leader and Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan said that the nation knows what all the DMK members did by keeping the media in their hands.
The DMK side objected to this. Responding to that, Minister Adhav Arjuna said, “Those in the DMK who speak about the traditions and dignity of the House should themselves follow them; they should not belittle the people’s verdict or electoral victory.”
