A debate on election reforms is taking place in the Lok Sabha of the Parliament. Today, the discussions on SIR have been intense between Amit Shah and Rahul Gandhi. Yesterday (Dec 9), speaking in the Lok Sabha, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi said, "There is vote rigging happening in the country, democracy is being mutilated; there have been many irregularities and vote thefts in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. The RSS is acting against the law by taking control of the Election Commission of India, which is supposed to be the pillar of democracy. Neither the Prime Minister nor Amit Shah is allowing the Election Commission of India to function independently," he accused. "The RSS organization has also taken over the Election Commission," Rahul Gandhi's accusation.
Responding to this in yesterday's Lok Sabha, Home Minister Amit Shah said, "I still believe that SIR cannot be discussed in Parliament. But when it comes to 'electoral reforms,' we are ready to answer any questions related to it. We want to make it clear here that we will not run away or hide without answering. We were not the first to implement SIR. The first SIR was conducted in 1952 when Jawaharlal Nehru was Prime Minister. It was carried out under Congress rule in 1957, 1961, 1965-66, and 1983-84." They are neither fake houses nor fraudulent voters.
Responding to Amit Shah's speech, Rahul Gandhi said, "Amit Shah ji spoke about Haryana. He gave an example." I have examples and evidence of many other frauds like this. There are 1.9 million fake voters in Haryana. Is Amit Shah ready to come to a press conference to discuss this with me?" challenged Rahul.

அதற்கு அமித் ஷா, “எதிர்க்கட்சித் தலைவர் முதலில் எனது பதில்களை பொறுமையாக காது கொடுத்துக் கேட்க வேண்டும். நான் எதைப் பேச வேண்டும், எங்கு பேச வேண்டும் என்பதை நான்தான் முடிவு செய்வேன். அதை நீங்கள் சொல்லக் கூடாது. மக்களவையில் கேட்கும் கேள்விகளுக்கு பதில் சொல்கிறேன். மக்களவையின் விவாதத்தை எங்கு வைத்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்று நீங்கள் சொல்லக் கூடாது. உங்கள் விருப்பதிற்குகெல்லாம் மக்களவை செயல்படாது” என்றார் அமித் ஷா.
பீகார் தேர்தல் குறித்துப் பேசிய அமித் ஷா, “பீகாரில் உங்கள் தேர்தல் பேரணிகளின்போது ‘வாக்குத் திருட்டு (vote chori)’ என்று மக்களிடையே பிரசாரம் செய்தீர்கள். ஆனாலும் நீங்கள் தேர்தலில் தோற்றீர்கள்.
உங்கள் தோல்விக்குக் காரணம் உங்களின் தலைமையும், கட்சியின் செயல்பாடுகளும்தான். EVM அல்லது வாக்காளர் பட்டியல் சீர்திருத்தம் (SIR) காரணமல்ல.
