The CBCID police recently uncovered a gang that had been supplying counterfeit medicines across India in the names of India’s well-known pharmaceutical companies, `Sun Pharma' and `Dr. Reddy's'.
They also sealed the counterfeit medicine factories and their warehouses, and arrested 13 people, including the main accused, `Madurai' Raja (a.k.a.) Valliappan, Raja, Rana, Meyyappan, and Vivek, CBCID police said.
Along with that, they inspected the fake medicine factories and warehouses run by the main accused, Raja, and seized counterfeit medicines and machinery worth several hundred crore rupees. A Special Investigation Team (S.I.T) headed by S.P. Nallampabu was formed to investigate this case, which shook the entire country.
The team arrested 13 people, including Raja’s wife Gnanapriya, their partner Manikandan of the N.R. Congress party, and retired forest department officer Sathiyamoorthy.
Accordingly, in this case, 26 people, including 4 women, were arrested and jailed. Following that, not only members of the opposition but also those from the ruling party insisted that the case be transferred to the CBI.
As a result, the Union Home Ministry accepted Governor Kailashnathan’s recommendation and transferred the case to the CBI. CBI officials then came to Puducherry last March and began their initial investigation, after which they went quiet.
It was also stated by the CBI that the investigation had been temporarily put on hold because of the legislative assembly elections. Meanwhile, all 26 accused, including the main accused Raja, were released on bail.
It was in this situation that CBI officers, who came to Puducherry yesterday, re-arrested Raja, the main accused, and took him to Delhi. When CBI officers spoke to some people about this, they said, “Raja, who had come out of prison on bail, had planned to somehow ‘escape’ from the CBI action against him.
Accordingly, he met police officers he knew in Delhi and discussed a ‘deal.’ At the same time, once we received information that Raja had come to Delhi, we began monitoring him and the people he met.
It was then that some police officers had allegedly negotiated a bribe of Rs. 5 crore with Raja. After that, the deal was finalized at Rs. 2 crore. Accordingly, on June 6, Raja gave Rs. 1 crore to a man named Nagooran from Chennai and asked him to deliver it in Delhi through hawala.
After that, Raja gave another one crore rupees to his friend Rajkumar from Abishekapakkam and sent him to Delhi. When Rajkumar reached Delhi, he received the one crore rupees that had been transferred through the hawala system.
After that, he handed over a total of two crore rupees to Inspector Praveenkumar of the Delhi Police. That was when we caught both of them red-handed. Only after that did we come to Puducherry and arrest Raja," they explained in detail.

அதன்படி இந்த வழக்கில் 4 பெண்கள் உட்பட 26 பேர் கைது செய்து சிறையில் அடைக்கப்பட்டனர். அதையடுத்து வழக்கை சி.பி.ஐ-க்கு மாற்ற வேண்டும் என்று எதிர்க்கட்சியைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள் மட்டுமின்றி, ஆளும் கட்சியைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களும் வலியுறுத்தினர்.
அதனால் ஆளுநர் கைலாஷ்நாதனின் பரிந்துரையை ஏற்று வழக்கை சி.பி.ஐ-க்கு மாற்றியது மத்திய உள்துறை அமைச்சகம். தொடர்ந்து கடந்த மார்ச் மாதம் புதுச்சேரிக்கு வந்து தங்களுடைய முதல்கட்ட விசாரணையை தொடங்கிய சி.பி.ஐ அதிகாரிகள், அதன்பிறகு அமைதியானார்கள்.

இந்த நிலையில்தான் நேற்று புதுச்சேரிக்கு வந்த சி.பி.ஐ அதிகாரிகள், முக்கிய குற்றவாளியான ராஜாவை மீண்டும் கைது செய்து டெல்லிக்கு அழைத்துச் சென்றிருக்கின்றனர். இதுகுறித்து சி.பி.ஐ அதிகாரிகள் சிலரிடம் பேசியபோது, “சிறையில் இருந்து ஜாமினில் வெளியே வந்த ராஜா, தன் மீதான சி.பி.ஐ நடவடிக்கையில் இருந்து எப்படியாவது `எஸ்கேப்’ ஆகிவிட வேண்டும் என்று திட்டமிட்டார்.
அதன்படி டெல்லியில் தனக்கு தெரிந்த காவல்துறை அதிகாரிகளை சந்தித்து `டீல்’ பேசினார். அதேசமயம் ராஜா டெல்லிக்கு வந்திருக்கிறார் என்ற தகவல் வந்ததும், அவரையும் அவர் சந்திக்கும் நபர்களையும் நாங்கள் கண்காணிக்க ஆரம்பித்தோம்.
அப்போதுதான் ராஜாவிடம் சில காவல்துறை அதிகாரிகள் ரூ.5 கோடி பேரம் பேசியிருக்கிறார்கள். அதன்பிறகு அந்த பேரம் இரண்டு கோடிக்கு இறுதி செய்யப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. அதன்படி ஜூன் 6-ம் தேதி சென்னையைச் சேர்ந்த நாகூரான் என்பவரிடம் ஒரு கோடி ரூபாயைக் கொடுத்த ராஜா, அதை ஹவாலா முறையில் டெல்லியில் கொடுக்குமாறு கூறினார்.
அதன்பிறகு தன்னுடைய நண்பரான அபிஷேகப்பாக்கம் ராஜ்குமார் என்பவரிடம் மேலும் ஒரு கோடி ரூபாயைக் கொடுத்து டெல்லிக்கு அனுப்பினார் ராஜா. டெல்லி வந்த ராஜ்குமார் ஹவாலா முறையில் மாற்றப்பட்ட ஒரு கோடி ரூபாயை பெற்றுக் கொண்டார்.
அதன்பிறகு மொத்தம் இரண்டு கோடி ரூபாயை, டெல்லி காவல் துறையில் இருக்கும் இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் பிரவீன்குமார் என்பவரிடம் கொடுத்தார். அப்போதுதான் நாங்கள் இருவரையும் கையும் களவுமாகப் பிடித்தோம். அதன்பிறகுதான் புதுச்சேரி வந்து ராஜாவை கைது செய்தோம்” என்றனர் விரிவாக.
