New Delhi: INDIA alliance leaders, led by Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Rahul, had expressed their desire to meet the Chief Justice of India to discuss the removal of lakhs of names from the voter list and electoral irregularities. However, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant rejected this request for a meeting.
Regarding this, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said: We sought permission to meet the Chief Justice and complain about the special intensive revision of the voter list and vote theft. However, the Chief Justice, who is responsible for protecting the Constitution, did not want to meet us. Democracy itself is in danger due to vote theft, election malpractice, and the removal of the names of lakhs of voters.
When asked for time to meet regarding this, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant says he will not meet politicians. The people of the country will certainly remember this decision of the Chief Justice.
Rawat said this. Speaking, Congress MP Imran Masood said, “We will carry forward the protest as planned. Everyone will follow whatever guidance the party leadership provides.”
DMK former MP T.K.S. Elangovan said, “I do not know what kind of pressure the Chief Justice is under. What we are submitting is a petition to protect democracy. Our complaint is that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is acting in favor of the BJP and is not being neutral. Democracy will flourish only if the Election Commission acts impartially. If anyone acts in support of Gyanesh Kumar, doesn’t that mean they too are acting against democracy?”
Chief Justice’s explanation
Explaining the rejection of the meeting request, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant said, "I received a letter on Sunday requesting a meeting. I sent them a reply that very night, stating the reason why this meeting could not be accepted.
Whether it is any ordinary citizen of the country or a people's representative, the doors of the Supreme Court are always open to find legal remedies for them. Everyone has the full right to approach the court. The court will certainly hear their petitions and deliver justice in accordance with the law," he said.
