The Chennai Meteorological Department has said there is a chance of rain in 17 districts of Tamil Nadu until 10 p.m.
Accordingly, it has been stated that in Ariyalur, Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Erode, Kallakurichi, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Perambalur, Pudukkottai, Salem, Theni, Tiruchirappalli, Tiruppur, Tiruvannamalai, Viluppuram and Virudhunagar districts, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at one or two places.
In this regard, the Chennai Meteorological Department further stated in a press release,
Moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning and strong winds (at speeds of 40 to 50 km per hour) may occur at one or two places in the Western Ghats districts. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning and strong winds (at speeds of 40 to 50 km per hour) may occur at one or two places in the districts of Cuddalore, Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Sivaganga, Namakkal, Viluppuram, Chengalpattu, Karur, Kallakurichi, Tiruvarur, and Mayiladuthurai, as well as in Puducherry and Karaikal areas, on Friday. Light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning may occur at one or two places in the rest of Tamil Nadu.
12-09-2026 and 13-09-2026: Moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds (at speeds of 40 to 50 km per hour) may occur at one or two places in the districts of Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, and Sivaganga. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds (at speeds of 40 to 50 km per hour) may occur at one or two places in the southern coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, the other Western Ghats districts, and the districts of Tiruchirappalli, Namakkal, and Salem. Light rain accompanied by thunderstorms may occur at one or two places in the rest of Tamil Nadu, and in Puducherry and Karaikal.
