DMK General Secretary Durai Murugan has raised the question: what was Advisor Vishnu Reddy’s role in Chief Minister Vijay’s Andhra Pradesh visit?
In a statement issued on this matter, he said, "There is no transparency in Chief Minister Vijay’s Andhra Pradesh visit! Where is the Water Resources Secretary? What was Advisor Vishnu Reddy doing there?
The Tamil Nadu government has issued a press release stating that Chief Minister Vijay met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu regarding Krishna water sharing and the Godavari-Cauvery river water linkage.
Chief Minister Vijay’s foreign and out-of-state trips have not been transparent at all. If state chief ministers are holding talks about river water, then, apart from the two chief ministers, the irrigation ministers and senior officials from both states would sit around them and take part in the discussions.

A group photograph featuring the chief ministers of two states and ministers, among others, has been published in the press. In it, neither the Tamil Nadu Water Resources Department Secretary nor any Tamil Nadu officials are present. Apart from ministers Bussy Anand and Aadhav Arjuna, Chief Minister Vijay’s advisor Vishnu Reddy was the one prominently seated.
Does Vishnu Reddy have a role there more than the Water Resources Department Secretary? Since Vijay came to power, industrial investments worth ₹4.42 lakh crore have gone to Andhra Pradesh. People are wondering whether the meeting was to discuss that.
Why didn’t the Chief Minister read the report on Krishna water that officials had prepared and given at the meeting of Chief Ministers? If he had read it, wouldn’t a video related to it have been released? Chief Minister Vijay has handed over the letter regarding river-water linkage to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Why go all the way to Andhra Pradesh to give it? He could have posted it from Tamil Nadu itself!
Two days before the Chief Minister was to go to Andhra, seven people, including the Palar basin division supervising engineer, the Krishna water supply division executive engineer, the assistant executive engineer, and the assistant engineer, had gone to Vijayawada. As the officials had expected, no review meeting was held at the Andhra Chief Minister’s camp office. So, after eating Andhra special foods and completing a special darshan at Tirupati, the Tamil Nadu Water Resources Department officials returned empty-handed. The news has also been published in today’s newspaper.
If they talked about the Godavari-Krishna-Cauvery river-linking project, was a draft prepared for it? Was a decision taken to prepare a feasibility report? Has anything been finalized regarding both Chief Ministers of the two states meeting the Prime Minister and making a request for the Godavari-Cauvery river-linking project? Without any such information, the Tamil Nadu government has issued a press release as if an old man had fallen into a pond.
Chief Minister Vijay, claiming that official talks would be held regarding state issues, has made it a habit to attend private events.

He went to Karnataka saying he was going to discuss the Cauvery issue. Farmers trusted him and sowed paddy. Now the delta lies parched and dry. Protests are erupting. With paddy arrivals declining, rice prices are soaring.
He said he was going to London to attract investment, but instead he took part in a car race there. What did he do for 3 of the 5 days of the trip? That remains a question even today.
Yesterday Andhra. Tomorrow Kerala. For such personal trips, he sticks on a “state welfare” label. He travels only by private jet. To put it in his own words, he is going from town to town to switch to the ghee in someone else’s house.
“The policies and actions of this government will be one hundred percent transparent to the people. No scheme will be discussed secretly behind closed doors,” he declared right on the stage where he took oath as Chief Minister. Was all that lecturing about transparency every time he spoke a lie?
The Chief Minister has the moral duty and responsibility to explain to the people what work was carried out by someone who traveled at government expense and can be said to have undertaken government business.

Behaving in a self-important manner as if no one can question me is not acceptable in a democracy. Chief Minister Vijay is not the king or prince of this country, free to do whatever he pleases. He is a Chief Minister elected by the people.
It is a moral duty to disclose everything to the people who voted. But when Chief Minister Vijay undertakes official visits, the customs and conventions followed are being blatantly violated," he criticized.
