The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert for very heavy rainfall today for 6 districts in Tamil Nadu.
As the northeast monsoon has intensified across Tamil Nadu, heavy rain has been occurring widely in various districts over the past week.
Meanwhile, the low-pressure area that prevailed over the southwest Bay of Bengal now lies over the Kanyakumari Sea region and adjoining southern Tamil Nadu and Kerala areas.
In this situation, the Meteorological Department has released the weather forecast for the next 5 days.
