DMK leader M.K. Stalin campaigned yesterday (Oct. 3) in support of DMK candidate Paranthaman in the Madurantakam constituency of Chengalpattu district.
Speaking at the campaign meeting, he said, " I have come here to ask for votes for our winning candidate in the Madurantakam constituency, our dear brother, advocate Paranthaman, under the Rising Sun symbol. We missed it last time. This time, we must not miss it!
This election is not an ordinary election. It is not even an election being held due to unavoidable reasons. It is an election that should have been avoided! An election imposed on you.
Just four months ago, you made someone win! To prop up this government, which does not have a majority, they resigned and then came back and, without any shame, are asking for votes under a different symbol.
What’s more, the minister himself says that he has done nothing for five years, while still keeping him on. After saying that, he is asking for votes for him too. Can you be insulted any more than this, the people of Madurantakam?
Has an MLA ever resigned immediately after winning after the results came out in Tamil Nadu? Never! This election is happening because of the blatant horse-trading that took place.
But if we say this, do you know what the Chief Minister is saying? “They joined T.V.K. only after resigning from the MLA post” - what a great discovery! If they had not resigned, the anti-defection law would have kicked in.
That’s why they gave the Speaker their resignation letter citing a false reason, isn’t it! You could have mentioned that too, CM sir!
The people of Madurantakam must teach a fitting lesson to the Chief Minister who deceives the people, and to the ruling party candidate who is deceiving you!
Every day I keep seeing it on television. I also see it on social media. News keeps coming in that there is opposition to the TVK candidate, that he is being chased away, and that the ruling party candidate is unable to even enter the constituency.
The people of Madurantakam are clear-minded! Not only that, you have shown that you are people with dignity and a sense of self-respect! I express my praise and gratitude for this spirit of yours with great humility.
Do you know how arrogantly the ruling party people are speaking? They say, “Even if we field a dog on behalf of T.V.K., people will vote for it!” Look at this cruelty! What a disgusting thought! To hear and see all this in Tamil Nadu itself is repulsive and shameful.
They look down on the people. It is you who must show that arrogance of such people its place. Will you do it? Stay with the same determination till the end—and teach the ruling party and the Chief Minister a fitting lesson!
We made only one mistake! Before the election, we completely failed to treat T.V.K. as anything worth considering. We fought against ideological enemies.
We ignored this clownish crowd. Along with that, the voting rights of several lakh people were also taken away in the S.I.R.
It was for such a few reasons that we lost our chance of victory. But the reality is that even the party that formed the government did not get a majority," he said.
