A 7-year-old girl from a village under the Gingee Alampundi panchayat in Villupuram district celebrated her birthday on the 11th. After that, while sleeping with her parents at night, she went missing early the next morning on the 12th.
The village was left stunned when the girl, who had happily celebrated her birthday with her parents and friends on the first day, went missing the very next day. Based on the complaint filed by the girl’s parents, Sathyamangalam police registered a case and began searching for the girl.
But when there was no progress in the missing girl case even on the first day and the second day, Villupuram District SP Mativanan became alert.

Following that, he formed 8 special teams comprising 100 police personnel under the leadership of four DSPs and intensified the search for the girl. More than 500 calls recorded on cell phone towers in that area from 11 p.m. on the 11th until 3 a.m. on the 12th were examined.
Likewise, with the help of fishermen from the Kottakuppam area, an investigation was carried out to see whether the girl had gotten trapped in water bodies, including wells, surrounding those villages. But now, with 5 days having passed, the police are struggling without any information about the girl. When asked about this, SP Mativanan said, “The girl’s house is very small.
The girl’s grandmother had been lying at the outer entrance of the house. Inside the house, the girl and her parents were sleeping. The girl’s mother, who says her daughter, who was sleeping with them at night, went missing at 5:30 a.m., said that one of the two doors was open at that time.
We are obtaining and examining the list of people with a criminal background, including POCSO cases, in that area and the surrounding village. Likewise, we are also investigating whether anyone has gone into hiding from the village after the incident in which the girl went missing. We are carrying out a search with the help of sniffer dogs in the thorny bushes and hilly area near the girl’s house.

We are continuously searching those areas, including CCTV cameras and water bodies such as wells, with the help of fire and rescue personnel. Under the leadership of the ADSP, 100 police personnel, including 5 special teams and three special investigation teams, have been deployed in the search for the girl.
We have questioned more than ten people who are under suspicion. At the same time, no one has been confirmed as a culprit so far. We have sent a notice with the girl’s photograph to all police stations in Tamil Nadu. This is not a case that can be solved easily. So it is a challenging case. But we will find her soon," he said.
