During the legislative assembly session, while speaking in the debate on the grant demands for the police and fire services departments, Chief Minister Vijay had sharply criticized the DMK.

That place itself would smell terribly foul. That is where we had to sleep. At night, they would not let us sleep and would beat us with police batons. They would trample us with their feet, and on the other side they would use life convicts to brutally beat us.

Because of their beating, my dear elder brother, Member of Parliament Chittibabu, died in prison. Because of their beating, all the bones in my jaw were broken. You (Vijay) also showed your jaw with your hand, didn’t you? That was correct. I still have the scars from the beatings.

I am not saying no one has faced this kind of oppression in public life; especially many people who fight for Tamils have faced it. All of us fighters have come through this. No matter who insults me, they can never change history. My history of struggle will be there in the Assembly. Read it, and you will know what the truth is.

Besides, you have spoken wrongly about the Sarkaria Commission and about our leader Kalaignar. You have made allegations of corruption. If there had been any truth in those allegations, action would certainly have been taken. In 95% of the cases charged by the Enforcement Directorate, the accused were acquitted without the charges being proven.

It is well known to everyone here that the Enforcement Directorate is mostly being used for political vendetta. The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly has its own dignity and respect. Chief Minister Vijay, please do not speak unnecessary controversies in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.

After the election was over, you came to my house. I held your hand and welcomed you. At that time, you told me, “Sorry for criticizing you harshly during the campaign?” I said, “It’s okay, brother.
