In Coimbatore district, the road from Vadavalli, which comes under the Coimbatore Corporation, to the Marudhamalai Murugan Temple remains full of potholes without the work being completed, causing great hardship to those who travel on it.
This is one of Coimbatore’s main roads. Since it is a road lined with three educational institutions in succession—Bharathiar University, the Coimbatore Anna University regional campus, and the Government Law College—thousands of college students alone use this road every day.
Since the Marudhamalai Murugan Temple must also be reached via this road, devotees, the general public, and college students alike travel on this road.
For the underground sewage system, work has been carried out, and for the past two months the roadwork has not been completed, leaving the road uneven with bumps and potholes, causing many two-wheeler riders to get into accidents.

During rainy periods, the entire road becomes covered with slush, forcing buses, heavy vehicles, and two-wheelers to crawl along, which severely affects those who travel to work in the morning.
When speaking about this with the sister who runs an idli shop by the roadside, she said, "It’s been the same situation for the past two months, brother. Because of the people coming to the shop, we can’t eat in peace, and dust keeps getting into the food. Many people have even developed breathing problems. We’ve already told the authorities about this, but it still doesn’t seem like this road problem has been fixed."
Bus drivers are also being put to hardship, as more than 50 buses a day travel this route to Marudhamalai and Thondamuthur.
"If this is the condition of Coimbatore’s main road itself, what would the situation be like in other areas? Please fix this road soon," the public has been saying.
An attempt was also made to contact the municipal commissioner regarding this, but contact could not be established.
This road, used every day by thousands of students, devotees, and members of the public, has left local residents wondering how many more days it will remain like this.
The concerned officials need to give a clear answer on what the deadline is for fully restoring the road after the sewage works are completed, and when the work will be finished.

Every vehicle that passes through the potholes raises the same question: when will this roadwork be completed?
As two-wheeler accidents on this road continue to rise day by day, it is alleged that despite repeated complaints from social service organizations and the public, no action has been taken by the government.
People are demanding that officials immediately repair this road, where accidents keep happening.
