Dharmapuri: In order to protect democratic rights and the interests of Tamil Nadu, the people should extend their support to the DMK candidate, said DMK Deputy General Secretary Kanimozhi MP at an election campaign meeting held in Dharapuram on behalf of the party.
Speaking further at the meeting, she said: Those who come to power by winning votes from the people must faithfully fulfill the promises they have made. Rather than approaching the public and asking for votes only during election times, it is the duty of political parties to continuously safeguard their rights and needs.
During the DMK government, priority was given to the welfare of the people. At the national level, inflation stood at 4.4 percent. In Tamil Nadu, the rise in prices has severely affected the general public. The DMK has been continuously raising questions in Parliament regarding the anti-people actions of the Central government. Even if they are decisions made by those holding key responsibilities in the Central government, including the Prime Minister or the Home Minister, the DMK has expressed opposition if they are detrimental to Tamil Nadu’s interests.
Various allegations are being raised regarding the functioning of the Election Commission and the preparation of the voter list. The names of millions of voters have been removed from the list. In this situation, as leaders are fighting over this issue, why has TVK leader Vijay not raised a question?
Why are the Communist parties that supported the TVK in Tamil Nadu now in the opposition in the by-election? Has Vijay condemned the TVK members for speaking slanderously about women from the DMK on social media? He said that one should vote for the DMK to protect Tamil Nadu’s rights, state interests, and democracy.
Similarly, speaking at a place called Manurpalayam near Dharapuram, he continued campaigning in Dharapuram and other places including Govindapuram and Manakkadavukilangundal. DMK functionaries, volunteers, and the general public took part in these meetings.
