Thiruvallur: Police are intensively searching for unidentified persons who stole 12 sovereigns of gold jewelry, 1.5 kg of silver, and Rs. 35,000 from two houses, including the house of a retired DSP.
Jayakumar (35) is from the Chinna Ekkadu-Swetha Garden area near Thiruvallur. He works for a private finance company. On the 29th of last month, he had gone with his family to the Chennai, Egmore Government Children's Hospital to get treatment for his child. In this situation, on the 3rd, it was discovered that the doors of Jayakumar's house had been broken open.
When informed, Jayakumar rushed home and found that 10 sovereigns of gold jewelry, Rs. 25,000 in cash, and three-quarters of a kilo of silver items kept in the cupboard had been stolen by unknown persons.
Similarly, in the Chinna Ekkadu area, retired DSP Jayaprakash passed away three years ago, and his wife Vasanti (70) has been living alone. On the 26th of last month, she went to her daughter’s house in Medavakkam, Chennai.
It was found that on the 3rd, the lock of the house where Vasanti had been living had been broken open. Following this, when Vasanti came to the house the day before yesterday and checked, it was discovered that mysterious persons had stolen 3 Kamadhenu idols weighing about three-quarters of a kilo, silver items including anklets and a kumkum container, 2 sovereigns of jewelry, and Rs. 10,000 in cash from the cupboard. Regarding these two incidents, the Pullarambakkam police have registered a case and are investigating, and are intensively searching for the mysterious persons involved in the thefts.
