The Tamil Nadu government, which had canceled the tender for the purchase of 1,000 AC electric buses in Chennai, withdrew the cancellation notice the very next day.
"The tender was canceled by mistake. We are withdrawing it. The deadline for the tender should be extended until November 4," the Chennai Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) has also written to the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
Meanwhile, PMK leader Anbumani has issued a statement criticizing the TVK government.

It says that the tender invited for the purchase of 1,000 electric buses for the Chennai Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) was canceled last Wednesday, and the cancellation order was withdrawn the very next day, with an announcement that the tender process would continue.
These contradictory decisions show that the Tamil Nadu government is in a state of great confusion on administrative matters. In March this year, a tender was invited for the purchase of 1,000 electric buses for the Chennai Metropolitan Transport Corporation. Following that, the Tamil Nadu Assembly election was announced and there was also a change in government, so the deadline for submitting applications was postponed several times.
Against this backdrop, the Tamil Nadu government announced last Wednesday (the 14th) that the tender notice was being canceled for administrative reasons. This caused considerable confusion. However, the Metropolitan Transport Corporation later said that the cancellation notice had been issued by mistake, that it had been withdrawn, and that the tender process would continue.
It is difficult to understand how a tender notice issued by the Tamil Nadu government was canceled without the government itself knowing about it. Any decision of the government must pass through multiple levels of officials, from section officers to directors and secretaries. An individual officer may make a mistake, but how could all the officials involved in this have made the same mistake? Therefore, the officials cannot be blamed for the confusion caused by the cancellation of the tender. Those who make policy decisions must take responsibility for this.
Under the agreement the DMK government entered into with the World Bank, electric buses are being procured for the Metropolitan Transport Corporation under the Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model.
Since this move would pave the way for the privatization of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation, the Pattali Makkal Katchi has been strongly opposing it. If the government had canceled the tender process for this reason, it should have stood firm in that decision; it should not have reversed it again.
For the development of a state, its government problems must be carefully examined, clear and decisive decisions must be made, and one must stand firmly by them. Making hasty decisions without adequate consultation and immediately changing them will not strengthen governance. Henceforth, I insist that all decisions should be taken only after thorough study, and that the government should remain steadfast in implementing them," he said.
