DMK leader M.K. Stalin has expressed pride in sharing an article published in The New Indian Express about girls who studied in tribal hostels joining leading higher education institutions.
Regarding this, M.K. Stalin said in his social media post:
"I am happy to share with you two pieces of news that moved my heart yesterday about the achievements of our Dravidian model government.
First, an appreciative article published by the World Bank about the Thozhi hostels launched across Tamil Nadu under the DMK government.
It says, “The most powerful way to boost India’s economic growth is to encourage more women to join the workforce. A major obstacle to that is the lack of safe accommodation for women who come to cities in search of opportunities.
The Thozhi hostels of the Dravidian model government have shown that this is a problem that can be solved. All states and countries around the world should quickly follow this example,” it says.
Second, one in five students who studied in schools run by the Tamil Nadu government’s Tribal Welfare Department—that is, 20%—have secured admission to the country’s leading higher education institutions.
This is no ordinary achievement. Compared with the 2024-25 academic year, in the 2025-26 academic year, 70% more tribal students have been selected for premier higher education institutions including NIFT, NIT, National Law University, CIPET, and others.
Furthermore, the pass percentage in these schools, which was 86% in 2022, has now risen to 97.33%. In addition, 95% of the students who passed have enrolled in higher education courses.
“Beyond all political differences, the current government must also build upon, without in any way undermining, this great revolution brought about by the Dravidian model government in women’s employment and the education of tribal students!” he said.
