New Delhi: It has come to light that the body of an 80-year-old man who died four years ago in Mumbai had been preserved in a freezer.
Believing that technology to bring the dead back to life would come, his family had been waiting. After receiving the information, Kurar police went to the scene and took possession of the body.
At that time, arrangements were being made to send the body to a ‘cryonics’ center in the United States.
It is said that research is being conducted there to bring the dead back to life. During the investigation, it was found that the elderly man had died naturally in 2022 from illnesses including cancer and kidney failure. Unable to accept his death, the family did not perform the final rites.
They kept the body in a freezer at home, then later moved it to the freezer at a daycare center in Malad and continued paying monthly rent. They have spent lakhs of rupees on this.
When the center was closed for a month for renovation work, the body was found exposed and the police were informed. After the police gave advice to the family, the body was cremated the day before yesterday.
After a person is declared dead, the blood is removed from the body and special chemicals are injected. Then the body or head is stored in liquid nitrogen at -196 degrees Celsius.
These organizations believe that in the future, these people can be revived. In the United States, the Alcor Life Extension Foundation and the Cryonics Institute are the major organizations in this field.
However, the mainstream scientific community considers this an experimental attempt and pseudoscience. Their view is that, with current technology, it is not possible to revive frozen tissues.
