Tamilaruvi Manian was the one who merged his Kamarajar Makkal Katchi with the Tamil Maanila Congress before the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly election.
He then stepped away from active politics, saying, "The current political climate won’t suit you. You wished for a good change. Did that happen? So, leave politics and focus on the things you like, such as reading books and spirituality," as his wife told him in her final days. So from now on, my journey will be only on that path."
In this context, the Tamil Maanila Congress has now said that it will support the TVK in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram by-elections.
At the same time, Tamilaruvi Manian had released a video a few days ago strongly criticizing TVK legislators.

“Most of the members are people who do not even know how to read Tamil properly. The Finance Minister speaks arrogantly, saying that this is how my speech will be. They are merely fans who sing the Chief Minister’s praises. This is the first time in the history of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly that members have been placed at such a low level,” he said in the video. He had also strongly referred to AIADMK MLAs resigning from their posts and switching to TVK as “horse-trading.”

We spoke to him against this backdrop.
''I merged the Kamarajar Makkal Katchi with the Tamil Maanila Congress only after asking those who had trusted me and traveled with me. At that time, I also told them one more thing. Those who wished to go along with this decision could do so. Those who did not wish to could go their own way. That was it. But everyone supported my decision.
I cannot take the party and merge it with the DMK or AIADMK. There were invitations from the BJP side. How could I make a decision to go to that party’s side? That is why we joined with Vasan’s party.

After the merger, once the two parties became one, the decision taken by Vasan as the party leader would be final. Many of them did not even want that party to have been in the AIADMK-BJP alliance in the last election.
So now, after seeking the views of office-bearers and cadres, they have expressed support for TVK on that basis.
Before taking such a decision, Vasan also came and met me. I told him, "Your administrators do whatever the supporters say; what is there in that?"
At the same time, since the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government and the functioning of the MLAs are concerned, don’t I, as a citizen of the state, have an opinion too? I spoke about that.
My decision not to engage in intense politics remains the same even now. Even so, depending on the situation, at times I want to express my opinion.
At other times, I think I can spend the rest of my time on literature, reviewing good films from that era, and spirituality," he says.
