Minister Rajmohan has announced that teachers who have not yet passed will also be given training. Middle school teachers and graduate teachers who teach from Class 1 to Class 8 are required to pass the Teacher Eligibility Test, known as TET. As per the Supreme Court order, this also applies to teachers already in service. In this situation, the special TET exam for in-service teachers was conducted on July 4 and 5. A total of 59,902 people took TET Paper 1 for middle school teachers, and 1,58,617 people took TET Paper 2 for graduate teachers.
In this situation, a case was filed in the Chennai High Court seeking grace marks for teachers based on their length of service. In this case, the High Court had imposed an interim stay on the release of the Special TET exam results.
In this context, on the 1st of last month, the High Court lifted the interim stay and granted permission to release the exam results. Following this, the results were announced on Monday.
Teachers who have passed this examination must download their eligibility certificate from the website by this Friday. S. Jayanthi, Chairperson of the Teachers Recruitment Board, has announced that the Teacher Eligibility Test certificate for candidates from Puducherry will be issued by the Puducherry School Education Department.
In this examination, 47,594 candidates passed Paper 1, and 60,732 candidates passed TET Paper 2 for graduate teachers. In both examinations combined, 110,000 candidates failed. Following this, School Education Minister Rajmohan said that plans are in place to provide special training to them. Meanwhile, officials of the Teachers Recruitment Board said that the notification for a special TET examination for teachers already in service will be released soon.
Meanwhile, B.Ed graduates and those who have completed intermediate teacher training have demanded that the general TET exam for 2026 be conducted immediately.
