Chennai: The High Court has ordered permission to be granted for RSS to hold parade processions at 128 locations across Tamil Nadu on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1.
In connection with the RSS organization’s founding day, RSS state secretary Jagadeesan filed a case in the Chennai High Court seeking permission to hold parade processions at 128 locations across Tamil Nadu on one of the days Oct. 18, Oct. 25, or Nov. 1.
This case came up again for hearing yesterday before Judge V. Lakshmi Narayanan. At that time, the Tamil Nadu government side stated that permission would be granted to hold processions on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1. The RSS side also gave an assurance that the rules already laid down by the High Court would be followed.
The judge, in the order recorded, stated: Every year, there is a situation where the court has to be approached seeking permission to hold an RSS parade procession. Such a situation should not arise again. The police must grant permission for the RSS parade procession and the public meetings that follow it by Oct. 19. Likewise, the RSS must strictly comply with the conditions imposed by the High Court. He issued such an order.
In Tamil Nadu, after a single judge issued an order in 2023 denying permission for an RSS procession rally, the Supreme Court later set it aside and ordered that permission be granted. The then state government appealed against this. The Supreme Court dismissed that appeal. Following this, it is noteworthy that the RSS held rallies at 45 locations that year.
