New Delhi: A mock Parliament session was held in Delhi yesterday on behalf of the India alliance. During it, a resolution was passed demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
India alliance parties have been alleging that various irregularities have taken place in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. In this matter, continuous protests are being held demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar from office.
As part of this, a mock Parliament session was held yesterday at Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence in Delhi on behalf of the India alliance. Former Speaker Meira Kumar presided over the meeting. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, senior leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, among others, participated.
MPs from various opposition parties, including the Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal, and Communist parties, attended the meeting. Many people whose names were removed from the voter list during the SIR exercise also expressed their views at the meeting.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said:
The SIR exercise should be completely canceled. Form 6 has been amended without the approval of Parliament. During the SIR exercise, voters have been deliberately removed. Therefore, I demand that a public impeachment inquiry be conducted against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. I am moving a resolution to remove him from office. He should be removed from office in the SIR matter. Kharge said this.
Congress senior leader Rahul Gandhi said:
During the SIR exercise, the names of about 13 crore voters were removed. Accordingly, the names of 15% of India’s voters have been removed. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, who was involved in vote theft in the recent assembly elections, should be removed from office. Gyanesh Kumar believes that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister Amit Shah will protect him. But you cannot escape from the people. He said this.
The mock parliament was held for a total of 3.23 hours. A total of 215 MPs from 19 opposition parties participated in it.
At the end of the mock parliamentary session, a resolution calling for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar was passed.
