Chennai: Regarding the petition seeking ‘Z’ category security for VCK leader Thirumavalavan, the Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Commission has ordered the Tamil Nadu government to file a detailed report.
The Tamil National Awakening Conference was held on the 17th of last month in Ulundurpet, Villupuram district, on behalf of VCK. When Thirumavalavan arrived at the conference stage, a severe crowding occurred as many people surrounded him and tried to take selfies.
As the crowd surged uncontrollably toward the stage, he began to experience shortness of breath and was on the verge of fainting. Following this, he quickly concluded his speech and left the venue immediately.
Subsequently, a complaint was filed on behalf of the VCK at the Kallakurichi District Superintendent of Police office, stating that “the congestion that occurred on the conference stage does not appear to be a natural incident, but rather a conspiracy seemingly orchestrated by a few anti-social elements.”
In this situation, lawyers Rajendran and Napoleon from Velachery, Chennai, filed a petition at the Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Commission in Chennai, saying, “Citing the Ulundurpet incident, Thirumavalavan should be provided with armed police protection and ‘Z’ category security.
An order should be issued to conduct a proper inquiry into the conference stage incident.”
The bench of the Commission, comprising members Anandaraja and Ilangosezhiyan, ordered that the Chief Secretary of the Tamil Nadu government, the Home Secretary, and the Kallakurichi District Superintendent of Police file a detailed report by Oct. 5 on the proper investigation conducted in this matter and the actions taken.
