Chittoor: As part of the Viksit Bharat initiative, Apollo Group Chairman Prathap C. Reddy said that government hospitals and primary health centers across the country are ready to be maintained free of cost.
Prathap C. Reddy, Chairman of the Apollo Medical Group, spoke praising the achievements of the Apollo Hospital established in his hometown of Aragonda in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. He said that this hospital, which was started in 2000 for the people of his hometown, has so far performed joint replacement surgeries on 1,000 people, setting a record.
Furthermore, he said: Born and raised in this village, I started Apollo Hospital with the noble aim of serving people in the medical field.
At present, there are more than 200 hospitals. Seven medical colleges, Apollo University in Chittoor, and a nursing training college, among others, were established.
Moreover, the Chittoor government hospital was taken on a 33-year lease and is now functioning as a state-of-the-art hospital with 650 beds. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu granted approval for this 10 years ago. People here are receiving medical care free of charge. My view is that a healthy India must be built not only in big cities but also in villages.
For a healthy India, Apollo intends to implement its services across the country under the Viksit Bharat initiative. In this regard, I met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and presented two projects.
First, when foreigners or Indians living abroad come to our country and choose Apollo for medical checkups and surgeries, we will provide them with prompt medical services. Next, as part of the Viksit Bharat initiative, if government hospitals and primary health centers across the country are handed over to Apollo on a contract basis for a few years, we will modernize them and provide people with excellent medical services free of charge. He said this.
