Amid the festive atmosphere that has enveloped the entire area in connection with the inauguration of the newly built bus stand in Pudukkottai at a cost of Rs. 19 crore and the indoor sports stadium designed at a cost of Rs. 8 crore, an interesting political incident that took place there has caused a major stir.
Festive atmosphere and tight security:
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, who is visiting Pudukkottai district, will inaugurate the new bus stand and indoor sports stadium in person tomorrow, November 2, and will also distribute welfare assistance.
In view of the Chief Minister’s visit, security has been tightened across Pudukkottai town, and police personnel have been deployed in large numbers.
Celebration and commotion:
In this context, party functionaries gathered in front of the DMK district office on North Rajaveedhi in Pudukkottai, under the leadership of Pudukkottai MLA Dr. Y. Muthuraja and district secretary K.K. Sellapandian. Saying that both of these projects were brought in during their rule, they stood on the road and raised slogans praising the DMK leader, burst firecrackers, and took part in a jubilant celebration. They also tried to distribute sweets to the public passing by.

Police obstruction:
At that time, the police attempted to stop the distribution of sweets, saying that people had gathered on the road without proper permission from the police and were acting in a way that caused inconvenience to the public. This led to a heated argument between DMK members and the police standing guard.
Laddus seized along with the tray - successive trays taken down:
As the argument escalated, the police swiftly seized and took away the tray of laddus that DMK members had kept to distribute to the public. But the DMK members, undeterred, immediately brought fresh sweets on the next trays without any delay and distributed them to the public.

In this regard, Pudukkottai DMK MLA Dr. Y. Muthuraja,
"The bus stand and sports arena projects brought in by former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin are only being inaugurated after two years with stickers pasted on them.
This government has not brought any new projects to Pudukkottai.
Even the official invitation for the government function was not properly given to the constituency MLA and the mayor. So, when we tried to celebrate peacefully by distributing sweets on the road outside the bus stand instead of going to the government function, the police are preventing us from going out and are engaging in oppression," he said.
