Due to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s visit to Pudukkottai, the road expansion work that had been stalled for the past six months has now been accelerated at a rapid pace.
In view of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s first official visit to Pudukkottai district, various precautionary measures in the district have also been intensified.
The new bus stand in Pudukkottai, renovated with modern facilities at an estimated cost of Rs. 19 crore, and the new indoor sports arena built at a cost of Rs. 8 crore will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Vijay at a ceremony to be held on November 2. In view of the Chief Minister’s sudden visit, the work on the new bus stand has been accelerated at a furious pace, day and night. In addition, the roads surrounding the bus stand are also being newly laid.

Six months of silence... now a lightning pace for the Chief Minister’s visit:
At the same time, the road widening work along the stretch from the old bus stand to TVS Corner, covering a distance of about one and a half kilometers, had remained stalled and unfinished for the past 6 months.
The district court, judges’ residences, the district collector’s and district police superintendent’s (SP) residences, government guest houses, and the SP office—all the residences and offices of various VIPs—are located on this road. On this highly important road, for the past six months, large potholes had been dug on both sides and the tar in the middle had been scraped away, causing numerous accidents to keep occurring. There is an allegation that, despite repeated complaints from the media and the public about this, the highways department and the district administration have not paid any attention.
Currently, in view of Chief Minister Vijay’s visit, the T.V.S. Road expansion work, which had been lying dormant for the past 6 months, has been accelerated at a furious pace over the last 2 days, and they are hurriedly laying an asphalt road in the trenches dug on both sides of the road for expansion.

However, the road in the middle is still full of potholes, with the tar completely scraped off, and two-wheelers are still forced to travel in a dangerous condition.
Traffic congestion has occurred on this T.V.S. Road because a large number of police personnel and their vehicles from outside districts have lined up here for security duty in connection with Chief Minister Vijay’s visit, and road expansion work is also under way. As a result, the public going out to buy items for Deepavali is facing various difficulties.

Regarding this
Tamilaga Valvurimai Katchi state youth wing secretary Niyas Ahmed said, "The Highways Department, which is carrying out only the road works from the old bus stand to TVS Corner at lightning speed in just two days for the Chief Minister's visit, has still left the road works from Brindavanam to Andakkulam pending. Moreover, by doing hurried, superficial patchwork without any quality, the quality of the road has been completely called into question. Since there is no provision for rainwater drainage, the edges of the road will have to be broken again and relaid; as a result, a large amount of government money is being wasted."
