Puducherry: “Nehru MLA has attempted to attack Puducherry Minister Malladi Krishnar Rao. An attempted murder case should be filed against him,” said N.R. Congress MLA Vaiyapuri Manikandan, urging action.
Regarding this, he told reporters today: “A woman was sexually assaulted in Puducherry. In connection with that, the police have taken legal action against one person. However, MLA Nehru alias Kuppusamy, for self-promotion and political electoral gain, has violated his own dignity and the law, and in a manner that makes the people of Puducherry cringe, has severely criticized the Chief Minister and Minister Malladi Krishnar Rao in the Legislative Assembly.
When he went into the Legislative Assembly with a rowdy gang to create a disturbance, even after the current temporary Speaker called him for talks, he treated him disrespectfully as well.
Whenever Nehru is elected as an MLA, the legislative assembly, where great leaders once governed, loses its dignity. Before Nehru could even ask a question, the NDA coalition government had already taken action. He has every right to raise legal questions about it. But he has no right whatsoever to create a ruckus.
If he had truly cared about that woman, Nehru MLA would not have done such a thing in the assembly. Because of what he did, the world is now searching everywhere to find out who she is and which woman she is. Not only that, the affected woman has reportedly attempted suicide.
He entered the Public Works Department Minister’s office and lunged at him to attack him. Fairly, an attempted murder case should be filed against MLA Nehru. In a magnanimous gesture, the Minister did not file a complaint.
He should speak in the Legislative Assembly and try to enact strong laws for such incidents. Instead of that, roaming around the MLA with a knife like a rowdy is not the way. If MLA Nehru continues to engage in such acts, it will not be long before we too resort to such actions.
Law and order is good in Puducherry. The police take immediate action against criminals.
It is precisely because of the fear of losing the Thattanchavady by-election that MLA Nehru is engaging in such acts. Therefore, MLA Nehru should behave in a civilized manner,” he said.
A few days ago, a boy died after an electric pole fell on the Beach Road in Puducherry. Demanding compensation for him and condemning the sexual assault on a 50-year-old woman, Urulayanpet MLA and Neyam Makkal Kazhagam leader Nehru, who is supported by the TVK, along with his supporters, laid siege to the Legislative Assembly yesterday.
He also staged a protest by sitting on the steps of the Legislative Assembly. It is noteworthy that he also had an argument with the temporary Speaker of the Assembly and the Minister, among others.
