The Congress party has accused the Delhi Police of acting harshly against students who protested against vote theft.
We will not forget the police action carried out on the orders of the Modi government, Congress said.
Opposition parties have been alleging that vote theft took place through the Special Intensive Revision of the voter list. As a result, leaders from India alliance parties have been continuously protesting, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Students from left-wing movements are also taking part in this protest. In that way, members of the All India National Students’ Movement were also involved in the protest today.
With permission denied to hold a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, students climbed over a wall and jumped in, raising slogans. At that point, the police deployed there lathi-charged the students and dispersed them.
Then, female police officers arrested the women students and took them away in a vehicle. A video has surfaced showing female police officers brutally assaulting the women students after putting them into the vehicle.
The Congress party shared this video and strongly condemned it. Regarding this, Congress posted:
''After taking the students into custody, they were assaulted both on the way to the police station and there, with belts and batons.
In this matter, immediate action should be taken against the woman police officer who committed the mistake.
Also, Delhi Police, remember this; we will not forget it. This anarchy, carried out at the instigation of the Modi government, will certainly have to be accounted for,'' the Congress has posted.
