Medavakkam: In Medavakkam, near the Vellakkal crematorium, special police questioned a young man who had been standing with a two-wheeler for a long time yesterday. He said he was waiting for a friend, but as he spoke inconsistently, the suspicious police searched him.
At that time, they found 300 banned intoxicating tablets in his two-wheeler. Following this, they took him to the police station and questioned him.
During the investigation, it was found that he was Vijayakumar (21), a resident of 24th Street, Gandhi Nagar, Kovilambakkam, and that he had a criminal record in the C-Section register at the Medavakkam police station.
The police said that a person from Mumbai was bringing these narcotic tablets to Chennai and handing them over, and that Vijayakumar, who bought them, was selling them at a higher price.
It was also found during the investigation that he had lured school students with promises that they could earn a lot of money and had involved them in selling the tablets.
It is said that for selling 10 tablets in a strip, he had been giving either Rs. 1,000 or two narcotic tablets as payment.
This information shocked the police. Following this, the police registered a case against Vijayakumar and seized 300 narcotic tablets from him, along with the cellphone used for sales and the two-wheeler vehicle. They then produced him in court and lodged him in prison.
