Chennai: Government employees’ pension applications must be submitted online only from November onwards. The Treasury Accounts Department has stated that no action will be taken on paper applications received after that.
In this regard, the circular issued by D. Saru, Director of the Treasury and Accounts Department, to all departmental officers states: In a letter sent by the Tamil Nadu Principal Accountant General’s Office, it was mentioned that some pension applications submitted earlier in paper form had been settled even before the corresponding online applications were received. It was also noted that this had led to inconsistencies in the processing of pension cases.
Following this, to expedite the processing of pension applications, it has been instructed that from November onward, all applications must be submitted only through the Online Pension and Provident Fund Sanction System (OPPAS).
Any paper applications received after that will be returned immediately without any action being taken. Revised pension applications must also be submitted only online. All required certificates must be attached properly.
To ensure that retirement benefits are provided on time, these instructions should be communicated to all payroll officers under their control, and it should be ensured that they are strictly followed. It is stated so in it.
