Chennai: In order to resolve consumers’ complaints, the Electricity Board has issued a tender to set up a new control center equipped with AI technology at Minnagam.
The Electricity Board has decided to upgrade the ‘Minnagam’ center, which under the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation monitors public electricity complaints 24 hours a day, in line with current advances in modern technology.
Accordingly, the Electricity Board has issued a new tender to establish a new control center equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
This new AI control center will be set up right in the electricity board headquarters complex on Chennai Anna Salai.
Under this five-year project, a range of advanced tasks will be carried out, including monitoring complaints submitted by the public online, compiling and managing grievances shared on social media, and instantly integrating fieldwork information via WhatsApp.
In addition, the project also includes a modern facility for accurately monitoring the operations of power lines.
It has been stated that companies qualified to undertake these advanced works must submit their technical and price-related documents separately.
An earnest money deposit of Rs. 11.70 lakh has been fixed for this, and the electricity board has planned to finalize the tender procedures within next month.
Until this new AI technology center comes into use, the public can continue to register their electricity-related complaints through the current methods, namely the mobile number 94987 94987, the toll-free telephone number 1912, and the WhatsApp number 94987 94981, the Electricity Board has said.
