Cases had been registered against Dharapuram Naam Tamilar candidate Karthika in connection with incidents including laying siege to the police station during election campaigning and obstructing the route taken by the Chief Minister.
Following this, the Dharapuram police went to her residence in Coimbatore the day before yesterday (Oct. 20) and arrested Karthika, along with her husband and four others from the Naam Tamilar party.
Naam Tamilar Katchi members had strongly condemned the arrest of Tharapuram by-election candidate Karthika. In addition, condemnations of Karthika’s arrest came from various quarters, including the DMK, AIADMK, BJP, and PMK.
In particular, former Chief Minister and DMK leader M.K. Stalin had said, “Women from oppressed communities should be welcomed and encouraged to participate in public life, regardless of ideological differences. What is this government going to achieve by arresting and intimidating such people? The T.V.K. government is acting like an authoritarian regime that lacks tolerance and democratic spirit,” he had alleged.
Regarding this, Minister Vanni Arasu wrote on his X page, "The one who said he would break the Dravidian fortress with an Aryan crowbar is Naam Tamilar Katchi’s chief coordinator, Seeman. It was revolutionary Ambedkar who exposed, with historical research, that the war taking place in India is an Aryan–Dravidian war. It was Thanthai Periyar who spread that message in Tamil Nadu.
It was Seeman who insulted Periyar himself by calling him “just a lump of dirt.” It was Perarignar Anna and Muthமிழறிஞர் Kalaignar who politicized Dravidian ideology and opposition to Sanatana Dharma. Yet Seeman is the one who has spoken in the most vile and uncivilized manner on stages, calling such a leader Kalaignar a “Telugu man” and “stolen DMK.”
Not only that, Seeman is a Brahminical slave who rejected the Tamil Thai Vazhthu song written by Manonmaniam Sundaranar simply because Kalaignar issued the government order.
DMK may have forgotten the disgraceful politics of the opportunist Seeman, who engaged in both ideological attacks and personal attacks in this way. As far as the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal are concerned, they will accept only those who accept Father Periyar and revolutionary Ambedkar; they will not accept Brahminical slaves. Now DMK has no shame either; Nadhagavum has no shame either,” he had sharply posted.
Following this post, DMK MP A. Raja criticized Vanniarasu, saying, "You are not someone who cannot understand that, under the rule of 'half-baked' people, condemning the 'unnecessary arrest' of a woman office-bearer of a political party does not mean supporting that party’s policies and criticisms. This 'confusion' did not come from me; it is an illness caused by the place where the 'work' is done - Occupational Hazard!"
