Chennai: Chennai Corporation Commissioner G.S. Sameeran launched a mobile medical vehicle equipped with advanced equipment to detect kidney disease at an early stage for public use.
On behalf of the Tamil Nadu Kidney Research Foundation, a mobile medical vehicle equipped with state-of-the-art devices for the early detection of kidney disease was provided to the RCME Tanker Dialysis Unit operating at the Chennai Corporation Disease Detection Centre in Valluvar Kottam, under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds of Mobis India and the Tanker Foundation. Chennai Corporation Commissioner G.S. Sameeran inaugurated it for public use yesterday.
This vehicle, designed to provide the public with the best medical examinations, includes seating, a bed for conducting medical examinations, blood sugar and blood pressure testing equipment, and facilities for measuring body mass index (BMI). In particular, it is equipped with a special test strip that accurately detects the level of creatinine in the blood within one minute, as well as urine testing facilities to detect kidney protein and blood leakage.
Through this, kidney damage can be identified at an early stage, and those who need it can undergo appropriate treatments, including kidney scans as further tests, under the guidance of medical experts. After flagging off the vehicle, the Corporation Commissioner also personally inspected the dialysis treatments being provided to patients at that center.
Those present at the event included Chennai Corporation Deputy Commissioner Thakare Subham Gnanadevarao, City Health Officer M. Jagadeesan, Mobis India Foundation Chairman G. Narasimman, Tanker Foundation Chairman George Abraham, and Managing Trustee Latha Kumaraswamy.
