There has been a conflict between Saudi Arabia and the separatist group the Houthis in Yemen since 2015. Saudi Arabia entered Yemen’s civil war in 2015 on behalf of the Yemeni government.
As a result, Saudi forces and the Houthis began fighting. After a ceasefire was introduced and then ended in 2022, the Houthis resumed their attacks. It is said that the Saudis opened fire when an aircraft from Iran attempted to land at Sana’a Airport in Yemen.
In addition, Saudi Arabian forces blockaded the Red Sea region and isolated the area controlled by the Houthis. It largely isolated the areas ruled by the Houthis.

As a result, the Houthis have been attacking Saudi Arabia. The fighting has now intensified. Recently, the Houthis attacked ships in the Red Sea region. Saudi Arabia has been providing air support to Yemeni government forces, which are trying to reverse these gains.
In retaliation for the blockade imposed on them, the Houthis have said they are targeting only Saudi shipping. The Houthis have stated that three Saudi Arabians, including a pilot, were killed in attacks carried out earlier this week on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Over the past week, attacks have also increased on other Saudi airports, military bases, and oil infrastructure facilities.
A missile attack has just been carried out at Riyadh airport. Civil aviation authorities said early Sunday that 12 people were killed and more than 300 were injured in the attack at the international airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, with some of them in critical condition.
The Saudi-led coalition has blamed Iran-backed Houthi rebels in neighboring Yemen for the attack. A regional official, who did not want to be named, said a missile struck the King Khalid International Airport complex, where terminals 3 and 4 for domestic flights are located.
The Saudi-led coalition, which is fighting against the Houthis, blamed the Houthis for the attack, describing it as a full-fledged war crime, and said it would respond firmly. It also said there were no military facilities at the airport.
This is the worst attack to have occurred in the Gulf Arab states since the Iran war began. Clashes between the Houthis and Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces have recently intensified. The United States is also considering joining this attack.
U.S. President Donald Trump said that the United States is considering whether it should join Saudi Arabia’s attacks against Yemeni rebels.
"We may join. We will consider it. We have just received information about the recent attack. So, we will make a decision. We are capable of acting very quickly," he added.ச
