Villupuram: Minister Vanniarasu has said that the DMK should apologize for betraying the Scheduled Caste people affected in the Vengaivayal incident.
Speaking to reporters yesterday at Thailapuram near Tindivanam, he said: The DMK is playing politics in the student Bharathidasan education fund issue. In the Ambedkar Overseas Higher Education Scholarship Scheme, out of 601 students who qualified during the DMK regime, approval has been granted to only 183. The DMK has betrayed the other Scheduled Caste students.
The DMK government filed a case against the people affected in the Vengaivayal incident. As a result, police officer Murali Raja was suspended. He has submitted a petition to me saying that, although he did nothing wrong, he was denied justice under DMK rule.
Thirumavalavan said that suspending him was wrong, held a protest in Pudukkottai, and then met the then Chief Minister Stalin and spoke to him. The DMK government of that time had treated Dalit students and youth in a very unfair manner. Therefore, the DMK should apologize for the Vengaivayal incident.
In Tirunelveli, VCK staged a protest demanding the arrest of Surjith’s father Saravanan and mother Krishnakumari in connection with the murder of Kavin. Only after that was Saravanan arrested. Krishnakumari, who was also involved in this, was not arrested during the DMK regime. Later, after bringing it to Chief Minister Vijay’s attention, Krishnakumari was arrested.
The DMK is staging a drama as if it cares about student Bharathidasan. The claim that intelligence police went to student Bharathidasan’s house is a deliberately spread slander. No incident like a search took place. Even if it had happened, we would not accept it. We will not allow anything illegal. Bharathidasan must continue his studies fully.
The DMK government’s procedures in the foreign higher education scholarship scheme are also being followed by the TVK government. They were asked for an account in the same way. The DMK thinks an account should not be demanded. Even though the receipt was not sent properly, the full amount has been sent in consideration of student Bharathidasan’s educational welfare.
VCK will not accept, as a matter of policy, handing over the airport to a private party. The Tamil Nadu government has not officially announced that it has been handed over to Adani. It will be known only when Chief Minister Vijay and the concerned officials speak. He said this.
