New Delhi: Mamata Banerjee, who lost power in West Bengal, has begun efforts to unite the opposition parties. For this, she has planned to meet and speak with DMK leader Stalin, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Naveen Patnaik, and Aam Aadmi Party’s Arvind Kejriwal.
Mamata has stepped into an effort to bring the opposition together. Her aim is to bring back the DMK and Aam Aadmi Party, which had broken away from the INDIA alliance. Mamata is also trying to bring the BJD into the fold in Odisha.
Many parties that want to unite against the BJP at the national level are, in their own states, in a situation where they are contesting elections against one another.
Arvind Kejriwal, who left the INDIA alliance, has been friends with Mamata from the very beginning. Because of this, Mamata believes that bringing him in would not be a big task. The BJD has operated independently in the past. However, Mamata has a good friendship with its leader Naveen Patnaik. Because of this, Mamata believes that he too can be brought into the alliance.
However, the opposition parties and the BJP are closely watching the moves of the DMK. Since Congress supported Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, Congress has become an enemy of the DMK. Nevertheless, Mamata believes that it is possible to work together on national issues. To discuss this in detail, Mamata is planning to visit Tamil Nadu soon and meet M.K. Stalin.
The TVK, led by Chief Minister Vijay, also took part in the India alliance meeting held in Chennai. In this situation, the question has also arisen: will the DMK join the alliance that includes TVK, which it considers its main rival?
