Brazilian President Lula da Silva has taken office for the fourth time in the country.
Election Victory
Last Sunday (October 25), a parliamentary election was held in Brazil. Although he trailed in the early vote counts, this election ultimately gave victory to Lula’s ‘Workers Party’.
Flávio Bolsonaro, from the Liberal Party, contested the election against Lula. However, his party received 48.21 percent of the votes.
Lula’s party received 51.79 percent of the votes.

Trump's intervention
When talking about Brazil's parliamentary election, it becomes necessary to talk not just about that country, but also about the United States.
This Latin American country, Brazil, is a neighboring country of the United States. From the supply of raw materials to the economy and even geographically, Brazil holds an important place for the United States.
Keeping other countries in its favor as much as possible... and if that is not possible, putting pressure on those countries in various ways—this has always been the United States’ long-term, clear objective of positioning itself at the forefront.
If this is the situation with other countries, then the United States’ mindset is that its own neighboring country too must be favorable to it.
As a result, U.S. President Trump wanted a government in Brazil that suited him. Lula has left-wing views. Moreover, he is not someone who says “yes” to all of Trump’s actions. Because of this, Trump wanted Lula not to continue as Brazil’s president.
As a result, he extended support to Flávio Bolsonaro. It is said that the United States carried out various activities on digital platforms to ensure that the election results would favor him.

Lula speech
Lula himself said in his victory speech, “This was an election in which we had to defeat external interference carried out through digital platforms beyond the country’s borders.
This country will never tolerate becoming someone’s backyard,” he noted. What he was indirectly criticizing here was Trump’s U.S. government itself.
But despite all of Trump’s wishes, Lula has won the Brazilian election and continues as president.
Bolsonaro allegation
Flávio Bolsonaro could not accept defeat in this election.
Therefore, Flávio Bolsonaro accuses Brazil’s Supreme Court of acting unlawfully by extending voting hours by two hours on election day.
On the 25th, during the Brazilian election, the Lula camp had approached the Supreme Court, saying, “Transportation services have been reduced. As a result, many voters were unable to come and vote.” Another reason was that there was heavy rain in Brazil that day, which also prevented many people from coming to vote.
Taking this into account, the court extended the voting time by two hours.
This is what Flavio Bolsonaro says is illegal and that it has worked in Lula’s favor.

'I am the president..!' - Bolsonaro
Even yesterday (October 28), Flávio Bolsonaro issued a statement saying, “I am the president of Brazil,” and alleging that the Lula government had engaged in political irregularities to win the election.
But the twist is that he released this statement in the United States.
Bolsonaro faces allegations of corruption, fraud, and similar offenses. Because of this, he had previously been ordered to surrender his passport to the court.
To evade this, Bolsonaro traveled to the United States using his Italian passport.
The Trump administration has also granted him asylum.
Even if Bolsonaro declares himself the President of Brazil, Lula, who was democratically elected, is the President of Brazil.
