AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami has alleged that law and order has deteriorated and become a laughingstock within just the past 5 months of the TVK government in Tamil Nadu.
In a statement issued by Edappadi Palaniswami accusing the TVK government, he said, "Under the TVK government, scenes of murderous rage and frenzied violence, like those seen in Vijay-starrer films, are now unfolding on the streets of Tamil Nadu. Whether or not rainwater and floodwater are flowing on the roads, rivers of blood are flowing."
North Indian laborer murdered (Velachery)
Youth hacked to death in front of the public (Omalur), and elderly woman living alone hacked to death for her jewelry (Kichipalayam, Salem)
Murder after a quarrel over dividing money earned from selling a stolen bike (Thiruthani)
Man released on bail from prison hacked to death (Dindigul)
Man who had just testified in court was brutally murdered in broad daylight (Tirunelveli)
Deadly attack on students at the railway station (Ennore)
Father who filed a complaint at the police station about an attempted sexual assault on his daughter was brutally murdered (Chennai)
Murders near TASMAC outlets (Samayanallur, Cholavandan)
If you read daily newspapers or watch visual media, it is such news that appears most often and catches the eye.
A young woman from Mayiladuthurai filed a complaint at the police station that her husband had released videos of the two of them in private, and that her husband had also had inappropriate relationships with around 27 women; however, the police refused to accept her complaint. She has also approached the District Superintendent of Police, saying that she was threatened. The worst part is that this incident happened just fifteen days after the woman got married.
Even yesterday, the news that a 6-year-old girl from North India was gang-raped by a few young men in Thiruvottiyur, in the state capital Chennai, is deeply horrifying. In the horse-trading rule, the claim of a lioness brigade is exposed as mere reels by the sexual crimes that happen every day. There is a Vijay in every house; just speaking lines about protecting people as an elder brother is not enough. To truly provide good governance, one needs courage, resolve, and the ability to get work done. In this very state, under the TVK government’s Chief Minister Vijay, law and order has been in shambles for the past 5 months.
Five months ago, when a new government was formed, people thought the regime had changed and that the old scenes would not recur. But these administratively inept rulers have brought down a thunderbolt on their heads. It raises the question: is the police force under the control of the government? Whenever any anti-social act is pointed out, these false horse-riding rulers try to brush aside the seriousness of the problem by saying that it is driven by individual perversions.
It is condemnable that some ministers continue to engage in the practice of blaming the opposition, driven solely by the desire to silence them, instead of making efforts to prevent crimes and immediately catch those who commit them.
People who voted for TVK, believing that if there were a change in government, milk and honey would flow in Tamil Nadu, are now standing stunned at the sight of rivers of blood flowing instead. The fact that ministers who should be working diligently to maintain law and order, ruling party MLAs, and alliance-party MPs propping up the ruling party are engaged in fights at events over who should light the first ceremonial lamp shows the chaos of this government. Law-and-order police spending their time merely breaking up the hair-pulling fights among ruling party members has become the fate of the people of Tamil Nadu. The tragedy of people being hacked and thrown carelessly in the middle of the road like slaughtering goats and cattle, causing rivers of blood to flow on the roads, and the tragedy of criminals walking away with royal swagger are happening only under the current TVK regime.
Chief Minister Vijay, who is focused only on how to keep deceiving the people and how to retain power, should not forget that the Tamil Nadu police are in his hands. He should abandon the notion that the police serving in Tamil Nadu are there only for his own protection, and should instead actively involve the Tamil Nadu Police in protecting innocent people from the clutches of murderous criminals and in taking steps to restore law and order in Tamil Nadu," he has emphasized.
