Villupuram: “Do not give importance to the rumor that I am going to become a minister,” PMK MLA Sowmya Anbumani has requested.
PMK MLA Sowmya Anbumani today (Sept. 30) offered prayers at the Veera Anjaneyar Temple in Senji Fort, Villupuram district. She then spoke to reporters.
At that time, as a public awareness rally is set to be held on behalf of the PMK, demanding complete prohibition, and in response to the question about Tamil Nadu Kall Movement coordinator Nallasamy saying that MLA Sowmya Anbumani should clarify whether toddy will be included in complete prohibition or not, “I am saying exactly what is stated in the PMK’s policy. A Tamil Nadu without alcohol should come into being. Alcohol is available in large quantities in Tamil Nadu. We are going to explain the harms that can result from this.”
We have started a journey to create awareness among everyone about social and economic issues and environmental impact. This should be called a movement. The movement will begin in Chennai on October 2 with awareness displays. We plan to conduct it across Tamil Nadu.
We will create awareness among women, children, and vulnerable youth. We will also spread awareness among Gen Z. We have launched a movement called “Alcohol-Free Tamil Nadu,”” he said.
After giving a lengthy explanation, Sowmya did not directly answer the question of whether toddy would be included in total prohibition. When asked again about it, she evasively replied, “According to PMK policy, Dr. Anbumani would have said it; that’s the same thing.”
Later, in response to the question that it is being said the SIR reform has brought about a change in government in three states, including Tamil Nadu, she said, “A lot of information needs to be known about SIR.
SIR reforms have been conducted in every state. Only after knowing the full details of whether SIR is necessary and whether any irregularities have occurred can I comment,” she said.
On the question regarding the allegation against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar that he acted independently, he said, “The full details of this matter need to be known. We need to see whether this complaint is true or false, and whether any wrongdoing has taken place.”
On questions about whether toddy would be included in a complete liquor ban, the SIR amendment, and the allegation against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Sowmya Anbumani sidestepped without giving a direct answer.
Regarding the question of whether PMK leader Anbumani MP will pressure the Central Government over the railway projects between Tindivanam–Nagari and Tindivanam–Tiruvannamalai being put on hold, he said, “He has spoken about this. The land acquisition work is being carried out through a separate tahsildar.”
Regarding the talk that after the Tamil Nadu by-election, PMK will be included in the TVK cabinet and that Sowmya Anbumani is going to become a minister, he said, “Do not give importance to such rumors.”
