AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami spoke to reporters at Madurai airport. At that time, he said, “The arrest of former ministers and the anti-corruption raid at K.N. Nehru’s house—what case it is, and what wrongdoing took place, can only be known by asking the people concerned. Instead of reducing prices, Professor Kalaiyarasan, who spoke about price hikes, is being arrested. In this regime, they are silencing people. What else can they do except arrest?”

The reports that I am going to meet Sasikala in Pasumpon are completely false. TTV Dhinakaran has already been working with us in a good relationship. Please do not spread such rumors.
Since taking office as Chief Minister in 2017, many have been trying to create confusion in the AIADMK. But there is no confusion or rift in our party. Genuine loyalists will be given due respect. The minister’s remark that soap and shampoo are the reason for foam in the river is amusing.
When I was Chief Minister, I met Prime Minister Modi and urged him to purify the waters of the Cauvery, Bhavani Sagar, Noyyal, and Amaravathi rivers, as well as dam water, just as the Ganga river restoration was undertaken. The Central Government, having accepted the project report prepared for this purpose, announced the 'Nadandhai Vaazhi Cauvery' project in the 2019-20 Parliamentary Joint Committee. This project, estimated at Rs. 11,250 crore, was approved with 60% funding from the Central Government and 40% from the State Government. However, neither the previous government nor this government has paid any attention to this project. It has been continuously postponed without any change in the financial year schedule.

I also emphasized in the Legislative Assembly that this project should be implemented immediately to ensure the clean supply of Cauvery river water, which serves as the drinking water source for people in 20 districts. If we keep blaming the Central Government all the time, we cannot obtain assistance from them. During the AIADMK regime, because we worked in harmony with the Central Government, the funds and projects we requested were received by Tamil Nadu without delay. As proof of that, one can cite the fact that Union Home Minister Amit Shah personally came and laid the foundation stone for the second phase of the Chennai Metro Rail project, for which Rs. 63,000 crore was allocated—the only project in India to receive such an allocation.
