There is something called the UN. But even someone who does not know its policy or principles knows this: “If there is a conflict or a war between two countries, the UN will be the one to negotiate peace.”
Whenever we hear the UN, we automatically think it will lead to a ceasefire... that whatever conflict happens, it will lead to peace.
Above all this, one of the United Nations’ principles is: “We will express humanity in everything we do.”
As soon as humanity comes into the picture, ‘war’ gets pushed aside. According to the principle mentioned above, the United Nations can be taken as being against war.
However, it can be said that no humanity was visible at the United Nations General Assembly, which has been taking place since September 18.
In the General Assembly, U.S. President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke only about war and attacks.
Trump's speech
On September 22 last year, “I have to make a very important decision.
Should I make a deal with them that would lead to rebuilding Iran and turning it into a much bigger country than before... perhaps one of the greatest countries in the Middle East or in the world?
Or should I immediately and completely destroy the Islamic Republic, so that they will never again have the chance to kill and destroy other countries?” Trump said.
He has also boasted about storming into Venezuela this January and arresting that country’s president, Nicolás Maduro.
A mountain of lies...
In a forum where many nations are gathered, in a forum that emphasizes peace, without any sense of remorse about entering a country and killing that nation’s top leader, and even asking whether that country should be destroyed,
Trump boasted about entering another country’s sovereignty and, above all, arresting that country’s president himself.
Not only that, there were countless lies in the speech he delivered.
Trump has said that he has stopped 8 wars so far. There is nothing new about his remarks on this. He has made comments there about those 8 wars.
Among those 8 wars is the India-Pakistan war as well. First of all, India has not accepted Trump’s repeated claim that what happened between India and Pakistan was not a war at all. It was a retaliatory attack. The United States mediated, he keeps saying.
Next, what happened between Egypt and Ethiopia, and between Serbia and Kosovo, was not a war. It was a dispute.
But Trump has so far blown it up as a “war” and claimed to have made peace.
The investments that came to Iran since he became president... there is no evidence for anything Trump said at the UN—that Iran did not run short of weapons in the war; that the United States still has plenty of weapons.
These are just a couple of examples of the lies Trump told.
Netanyahu at the UN
Yesterday, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke at the UN. As soon as he began speaking, representatives from countries including Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Algeria, and Iran walked out.
He criticized them right there on the stage as “spineless cowards.”
He also said in his speech, “The Iranian regime will fall one day.”
It may be acceptable for Trump and Netanyahu to speak in a hall where only their own country’s representatives and leaders are present.

The reason is that every country has different policies and principles. They speak and act accordingly.
But on an international stage, two presidents have spewed such hatred toward other countries.
Calling the countries seated alongside them in the same hall “cowards” is in no way justified.
Has the UN become 'weak'?
Such remarks have been heard in an organization that has earned the reputation of being a messenger of peace.
If we look at whether Trump and Netanyahu alone spoke about war, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian and Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy also spoke about war.
But what they spoke about was self-defense attacks.
However, what Trump and Netanyahu spoke about was the height of their hatred.
Now, turning to the UN, the name of the UN, which was originally founded for peace... for equality... for truth... for celebrating diversity... is gradually being tarnished.
Trump himself has criticized the UN many times.
Besides this, many countries have lost trust in and respect for the U.N.
At a time like this, if presidents speak like this at the U.N. General Assembly itself, confidence in it will be further shaken.
The U.N. cannot do anything about what presidents say there.
But the UN must regain its former strength as an organization. It should strongly advance its own policies and actions, not just issue statements... or hold talks.
Only then will the presidents themselves correct the way they speak there.
It must make clear the position that our policy is peace, and that is what we will pursue.
The UN should stand by every affected country and take the side of whoever is right.
This is the way for the UN to regain respect.
