New Delhi: The BJP government has decided to provide interest-free loans of Rs. 1 lakh to one crore women in Uttar Pradesh. Under the “Women Entrepreneurs Loan Scheme,” it has also planned to provide a subsidy of up to Rs. 20,000.
In most states across the country, schemes aimed at attracting women are being implemented in legislative assembly elections. In this context, elections to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly are due early next year. For this, the BJP government is preparing to implement a scheme to attract women. Under this scheme, one crore women associated with women’s self-help groups will be able to get loans of up to Rs. 1 lakh.
Under Uttar Pradesh’s Livelihood Mission, women’s self-help groups are covered by the ‘Udyameshwari Loan Scheme.’ Under this scheme, the UP government is preparing to implement part of its election promise. The scheme was announced in the 2026-27 budget. Under it, the UP government plans to provide an interest-free loan of Rs. 1 lakh.
Before the election, special credit cards for this purpose will be issued to one crore women. Women can use this amount to start a small business or expand an existing one. If the Rs. 20,000 provided in the first phase is repaid on time, a loan of Rs. 30,000 will be provided in the second phase.
If the second installment is also repaid, a loan of Rs. 50,000 will be provided in the third phase. Banks have prepared the draft plan for this. The concerned Rural Development Department is preparing the detailed project proposal for it. With this amount of Rs. 1 lakh, women can benefit by buying cows and buffaloes.
A plan is being prepared to provide quality e-rickshaws worth Rs. 2 lakh to women in self-help groups. It is noteworthy that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance won again in the Bihar Assembly election only because of the announcement of self-help group schemes for such women.
