Prime Minister Narendra Modi proudly noted that the brain-mapping technology platform developed at the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Research Centre at IIT Madras serves as a model for the entire world.
Prime Minister Modi addresses the people of the nation every month on the last Sunday through the Mann Ki Baat radio program. Accordingly, the 139th Mann Ki Baat program was broadcast on Sunday (Oct. 25).
12-year journey: Prime Minister Modi said: Twelve years ago, on the occasion of Vijayadashami, Mann Ki Baat was launched. As far as I am concerned, I consider this journey to be a “sacred pilgrimage” that has been made possible to honor the efforts, hard work, dedication, and contributions of the people of the nation.

Through this event, I pay tribute to the people’s power of the nation. Through this, I get the opportunity to connect with every family. I consider the love, affection, and sense of friendship of all of you as priceless capital.
During the Chennai trip...: During my recent trip to Chennai, I interacted with many researchers and young talents. Our youth have undertaken research in all fields that can change the future of the entire human society. One such field is brain research.
I dedicated the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Research Centre at IIT Madras to the people of the nation. The brain mapping technology platform developed at this centre (க்ஷழ்ஹண்ய் ண்ம்ஹஞ்ண்ய்ஞ் ற்ங்ஸ்ரீட்ய்ா்ப்ா்ஞ்ஹ் ல்ப்ஹற்ச்ா்ழ்ம்) stands as a model for the world. Through this, high-resolution digital 3D images of the human brain are being created. In the coming days, 100 human brains will be 3D “mapped” and studied in detail. This is the first such effort in the world. A high-performance “supercomputer” is being used for this work.
New possibilities: The country’s industrial sector has played a major role, alongside the government, in establishing this brain center. IIT alumni and academics have come together at this center. The reason this project is so important is that the human brain remains a major scientific mystery even today. Even now, there is no definitive treatment for diseases such as Alzheimer’s, which causes memory loss in old age.
Therefore, the more deeply the brain’s functioning is studied, the more new possibilities will emerge in the future. These data from 100 human brains will serve as foundational data for a wide range of future studies.
On the metro train...: My conversation with the youth during the Chennai Metro Rail and IIT journey was notable and interesting. I was able to see how the country’s youth power is working to find nuanced solutions to problems.
One of the startups I met is working on checking the quality of gold. Through that, one can avoid being cheated when buying gold. A group of young people is working on recovering money lost due to bank fraud. Similarly, another group is engaged in research on how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used to detect cervical cancer.
E-Sanjeevani Scheme: Under the ‘e-Sanjeevani’ scheme, which provides medical consultation online, 5 billion consultations have been provided so far. The e-Sanjeevani (online medical consultation) scheme is an example of how Indians quickly adopt new technology. Under this scheme, about 5 billion consultations have been provided so far. He said this number is very large.
The Prime Minister also mentioned in his speech the birth anniversaries of Maharishi Valmiki (Oct. 26), Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (Oct. 31), and the renowned Indian scientist Narinder Singh Kapany (Oct. 31).
Priority for indigenous products: ‘In the coming days, festivals including Diwali and Chhath Puja are to be celebrated. During this festive season, while giving importance to cleanliness, we should also give importance to indigenous products, as in the past. Through this, the movement to support local products will be further strengthened. The enthusiasm of local artisans will increase.
The world is now becoming a market for Indian farmers. Bihar’s makhana has reached the market in Greece, and Karnataka’s toor dal has reached the Maldives.
Along with the quality of our products, we must also give importance to packaging. Many times, when we see a product in the market, we buy it just by looking at its attractive packaging.
This time, on Gandhi Jayanti day alone, khadi products worth more than Rs. 28 crore were sold. Compared with last year, this is one and a half crore more,” said the Prime Minister.
