A free medical camp was held in the Ganapathy area of Coimbatore to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. Vanathi Srinivasan, the BJP’s Andhra state in-charge and former national women’s wing president, who participated in it, spoke to reporters. Speaking then, she said, “Those who said we are a pure force and are going to bring a major change in Tamil Nadu have taken MLAs who won from the AIADMK and fielded them as candidates themselves. As a result, crores of rupees of the people’s money have been wasted. These two by-elections are being conducted by the party that has newly formed the government.
I won without going to any constituency. I am a popular people’s leader; people have so much respect for me. Yet today, Chief Minister Vijay, who can say that the people respect him, is doing roadshows as if he must visit every village without missing a single one. If you are being told that you have reached a situation where you can win only by doing roadshows in every town so many times, it simply means that people clearly know the quality of your governance. Power cuts are increasing. There are no districts without power cuts. Law and order is poor.

They say that the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam has joined the INDIA alliance and is supporting it against the SIR; there could be no more ridiculous act than this. The SIR is bad. If it was wrong, then how did TVK come to power? If you say the SIR was deliberately conducted in a way that favored the BJP, then how did they come to power? If you say we benefited from this, then the BJP should have won all the elections held after the SIR. How did Congress win in Kerala? How did TVK win in Tamil Nadu? All this is a drama staged to fool the people and to criticize the BJP. TVK and Congress, who are protesting against the SIR, give us the list of which voters were left out.
Since the formation of the TVK government, priority has been given only to Christian officials. Christian individuals are being cultivated there as the most influential people. What is the response to that? If it is a communal force, does that not apply to them? Secularism—show secularism on all sides. For Aadhav Arjuna, who accuses the Bharatiya Janata Party of being a communal force, is it not visible that priority is being given only to Christian officials? DMK leaders have been continuously insulting Hindu beliefs. Whoever it may be, criticism should be expressed with civility and political decorum. Senior leaders should not mock the appearance of women who enter politics after a great struggle. This must be condemned,” he said.
