Janata Dal party founder Abhijeet Thipke, in a mocking gesture toward Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has shared on social media his resignation letter from the chief minister’s post.
In a tribal-dominated area of Balaghat district in southeastern Madhya Pradesh, more than 30 tribal children have died due to health problems since July 2026.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered the state government to submit documents regarding the deaths of the children.
In an investigation conducted under the leadership of the central government, it was stated that there was no evidence that a specific disease or germ was responsible for these deaths. Instead, officials noted that various conditions such as measles, malaria, respiratory disorders, dehydration, malnutrition, and anemia could have been the cause.
CJP founder Abhijeet Thipke met the families of the deceased children and said, “We will step forward to ensure that they get justice.”
Following this, some social media influencers posted mocking remarks about him.
Dipke has posted that he is resigning from the Chief Minister’s post, in a sarcastic jab at social media users who criticize him instead of the Chief Minister, and at the Chief Minister for not taking action in the tribal affairs issue.
Sharing a fake letter that looks like the Chief Minister’s actual resignation letter, Dipke sarcastically wrote in the letter, “I am stepping down from the post of Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. I thank Prime Minister Modi for giving me the opportunity to serve the people of the state, and for my failure to make proper use of that opportunity.”
Furthermore, “After more than 30 tribal children died in the Balaghat region, my conscience does not allow me to continue in this post. As the Chief Minister of the state, I take responsibility for failing to provide them with the necessary medical treatment and support in time. Many lives could have been saved in this. But, having failed in this, I cannot escape that responsibility,” he had also posted.
The government had initially announced compensation of Rs. 2 lakh each for the families of the deceased children. Following protests by tribal people, it was increased to Rs. 4 lakh.
Criticizing this, Thipke said, “This prompts an uncomfortable question. Would we assume that Rs. 4 lakh is enough if the children of ministers or MLAs were the victims? This reflects how little value we have assigned to the lives of tribal children.
In this, we have failed to hold health department officials accountable. Those in the highest positions must take responsibility for the deaths of innocent children.
Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is called the "Vishwaguru," has announced that he has succeeded in providing drinking water to households through the tap water connection scheme for every home. However, in some parts of Palakkad, tribal families still depend on the river for drinking water. As a result, their health is put at risk.
The BJP has been in power in Madhya Pradesh since 2003. Even after nearly 21 years, it is deeply shameful that you have not been able to provide many tribal families with even basic necessities such as safe drinking water, adequate medical facilities, and quality education," he noted in his letter.
