Chennai: In Tamil Nadu, heavy rain is likely on Oct. 4 in 4 districts, including Coimbatore and Nilgiris.
In this regard, a press release issued by the Chennai Meteorological Department said, “An atmospheric circulation persists over the southeast Arabian Sea areas off the Kerala coast at an altitude of about 0.9 km. A trough of low pressure persists at an altitude of about 0.9 km from the southeast Arabian Sea areas to the central east Arabian Sea areas off the Kerala-Karnataka coast. An atmospheric circulation persists over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Sri Lanka areas at an altitude of about 3.1 km.
As a result, tomorrow (Oct. 3) in Tamil Nadu, moderate rain with thunder and lightning and strong winds may occur at one or two places in the Western Ghats districts and in Madurai, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Trichy, Ariyalur, and Perambalur districts, while light rain may occur at one or two places in the other districts.
On Oct. 4, heavy rain accompanied by thunder, lightning, and strong winds may occur at one or two places in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Dindigul, and Theni districts. Moderate rain may occur at a few places in the other Western Ghats districts and in Madurai, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Salem, Erode, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, and Krishnagiri districts, while light rain may occur at a few places in the other districts.
On Oct. 5 and 6, heavy rain may occur at one or two places in the Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts, moderate rain at a few places in the other Western Ghats districts, and light to moderate rain at a few places in the rest of Tamil Nadu. On Oct. 7 and 8, light to moderate rain may occur at one or two places in the Western Ghats districts and southern Tamil Nadu, and light rain at one or two places in the rest of Tamil Nadu.
In Chennai and suburban areas, the sky will be partly cloudy tomorrow (Oct. 3). There is a possibility of light rain in some parts of the city in the evening or at night.
Rainfall- As of 8:30 a.m. today in Tamil Nadu, during the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall recorded was 6 cm each in Srivilliputhur in Virudhunagar district, Karuppanadhi Dam in Tenkasi district, and Valparai in Coimbatore district. Rainfall of 5 cm each was recorded in Vathirayiruppu and Venkateswarapuram in Virudhunagar district, Kurunthankodu, Eraniel, and Paloor in Kanyakumari district, and Valparai in Coimbatore district,” the press release said.
